No stable signal inside my ground-floor apartment. Will show 1-2 bars but calls are one-sided, too staticky to hear and liable to drop for no reason at all. No reliable coverage between just after Wisconsin along K St.towards 34th; drops unexpectedly every few minutes although clear signal. I like their pricing plans and phones, and they worked great in Boston and Vermont, but Cingular seems to be pretty lousy in the Georgetown area. Switching this weekend now that my contract's up.

Reception anywhere in SE is minimal to poor. I have had every Nextel phone up to the I-860 and no phone receives great reception in that area. It is a good thing I don't need to go on that side of town often.

a terrible reception problem, which seems to affect about a three block radius. I can tell because if I am driving there is almost a line that once I cross the receptions start to drop. Unable to make calls, answer voice mail, text messages seem to pop up whenever the reception re-establishes. sometimes thats within a few minutes, other times hours.

The reception in this whole neighborhood is so spotty that even if you're outside your house you will drop the call (if it even goes through!)

U St. / 13th, Washington, DC 20009 Wed Sep 21, 2005

Lived there for 1 1 / 2 years and always had trouble with Cingular reception. Static, dropped calls, low signal, etc. It caused me real problems since we did not have a land line in the house and the cell phone reception was completely unreliable. Cingular's customer service was no help, either. I called them many times, and went into stores many times, and they showed me ALL the towers that were nearby --> I shouldn't be having problems there! I am so excited for my contract to finally expire so I can switch to Verizon.

Over the past six months, I have had no reception in my apartment building or in the surrounding blocks, as far away as Foxhall Road. I used to be able to make Sprint calls from my balcony, but now I have to leave my neighborhood to get a signal.

Before this merger, I would always get great reception in my apartment, which has a balcony. After this merger and the conversion of these towers, my reception is spotty to non existant. The phone often switches to ROAM while I'm sitting in the apartment. I have to go outside to make a call on my cell phone. I've also experienced sporadic reception at various other parts of the city.

Coverage barely exists (and sometimes dies) at 33rd Place, rises slightly at 34th / Reno, dies again at 35th. This on a major NW artery!

I used to be an ATT Wireless customer until they merged with Cingular. For the last 2 years, I've had perfect reception in my apartment and around the DC-area. Over 3.5 weeks ago, reception in my apartment dropped along with spotty reception everywhere else, and service has not improved. Cingular has not been helpful only offering an explanation that they're converting old ATT towers -- a process that they don't expect to be completed until November! Plus, they've been less than generous with compensation for a phone that I can't use, not to mention the extra charges that I'm incurring on my home phone. Based on Cingular's refusal to deal with the problem in a customer-friendly way, I do not recommend them.

I usually get great reception, but after talking for a little while I will get this horrible static and people usually want to hang up, but I tell them to wait because it goes away after about 5-10 seconds. But then it might happen a few minutes later. It's very annoying. But their customer service is improving and that's important! And it would be nice to get reception in the Metro...

Great reception on 99% of the campus. Verizon, as well as all of the other carriers, do not seem to have reception on the first floor of the Marvin Center. Elsewhere in the DC metro area, Verizon has spectacular coverage. They even have reception in the Metro underground!

My Cingular phone service has been terrible ever since I arrived in DC. I had relatively few problems with it in Boston, but my calls are almost always dropped here. I almost always have to call people twice, because the first time they pick up, they can't hear me, or I can't hear them. My calls usually only last for about 4 minutes before they are dropped. The connection (when it's there) is very static. This seems to be a problem all over the city, not just where I am living. I am very disappointed with Cingular.

The reception in my apartment building is terrible. I constantly only get one or 2 bars if any at all and then when I walk outside and a little ways down the street I have full reception. I need reception in my apartment!

When I had AT&T and my v600 I usually got full bars in my house. I recently switched completely to Cingular and I have a v551 now, I get no more than 3 bars on the top floor of my house. With At&t, in my basement... full bars, now I get nothing.

Overall, I've had good reception all over the city (except Metro, of course!). Never had a dropped call, even in the basement of my building.
