I get good to great reception everywhere, but a sad lonely one bar in the house. Unless I'm pressed against the windows, I don't get anything and frequently miss calls. Even sitting at the window I'll drop a 30-min call 2 or 3 times. All my roommates get fine reception with their phones. Aaarrghhh!
there's a sink hole around my house here. I can't use my phone at home. its bad enough and Cingular's response is so poor that i'm considering paying to cancel the contract.
Sprint gives very poor reception in some low lying areas of DC, so am considering switching to Verizon which seems to get great coverage everywhere. Have even lost coverage in other non-low lying busy areas.
I use to have Sprint, and they only worked on the highways, definately not for camping. Cingular always has good coverage. Verizon in a small town in Iowa had reception, but not cigular. I'm still with Cingular cause they always treat me well (been a customer since 1998). I notice that a lot of Verizon customers have to call back when in the metro, either because the reception is poor or cause it's too loud. I think Verizon has good reception, but Cingular is good. A few years back, Cingular had shoddy reception in Glover Park, but now it seems to be better; either do to towers or switching over to the new band I think GSM. Sprint and T-Mobile are fine for urbanites and highway travelers but not for adventerous people. Verizon and cigular are pretty similar.
If you have Cingular and live in Adams Morgan or Dupont, please call this number to request a tower be installed: 877.231.5447. There's supposedly a spot on their website to request one as well but I couldn't find it. I've spoken A LOT with Cingular reps in person, online and via the phone in the past month. After receiving a new phone (had LG C2000 and got a Motorola V557) and new Sim card, my reception still sucks. Calls constantly cut out or drop. I kind of get reception if I go in one specific room in my apartment and lean against the window screen. Dare I step away, forget it! I live on the 6th floor. Lots of Cingular people I talk to have the same problem.
I don't get any reception, and if I do, it drops once I hit the call button. I can go for 5 minutes with no service at all, even if I walk in the middle of the street. I'm seriously considering breaking my contract. They charge way too much and they don't deliver.
