Verizon has been very good to me in terms of call quality and reception, but with all great things comes a cost and in this case money, If your willing to pay a few more bucks for a lot more bang than Verizon is the best way to go, I get service everywhere in DC, unless I'm on the first floor in which case I have "Okay" service

Hmm, I'm betting the prior poster lives in my apartment building. I too have a Cingular RazR and get absolutely no recedption in my apartment. Cingular will not waive the early termination fee, even though I have no reception whatsoever, because it's "my problem" that my building has no reception. Mind you, Verizon and T-Mobile phones both get full service in my building. It is very frustrating - it's one thing to be told that you can't get out of a contract because you've moved to the middle of nowhere. But moving within a major metropolitan area to another apartment in the same area? And still being told it's your "problem"? It's reprehensible.

Cingular is a reference to the number of bars. I want to throw my phone at the TV everytime I see a Cingular commercial.

Is T-Mobile reception getting worse? I used to get only one bar at work, now I get none. TMO swaped out my phone but still no dice.

Overall, I've had good reception all over the city (except Metro, of course!). Never had a dropped call, even in the basement of my building.

I get the worst reception with my Sprint phone in the DC area. I don't think I ever get more than 1 bar or if I'm lucky 2. Strange thing is, in certain parts of Maryland I can get 4 bars. I even carried my phone into sprint, got a replacement and had the same problem. I think it's Sprint's sucky network.

In the National Academies' Keck building: no reception in most areas on the first floor, second floor, third floor, or fifth floor. Close to north-facing windows: zero or one bar. I would just set my cell phone to forward all calls to my work phone. Someone with Nextel service had great reception, though, even near the elevator. Also, south-facing offices on the fifth floor get some signal (carrier unknown). Out of the building: four bars.

I get perfect service every where in DC. I have service underground in the Metro, above ground in buildings, everywhere. I highy suggest my phone, the Motorola V710 which was recently released for Verizon. I've only had one dropped call and that was because I was in analog roam in South Carolina. Completely perfect.

Very poor reception in buildings, I had a lot of dropped calls. The phone dies in the metro completely but works if the train is on bigger stations like metro center.

I live on the 6th floor and have terrible reception. I am constantly dropping calls and have to sit at the window to carry on any type of conversation. I feel we all pay too much to have the terrible reception we are all expected to endure.

Virtually no reception at my new house--I receive messages hours after they were sent, and calls do not come through! There was good reception at my old place in Adams Morgan though. No reception inside my office around Penn and 19th NW.
