I use to have Sprint, and they only worked on the highways, definately not for camping. Cingular always has good coverage. Verizon in a small town in Iowa had reception, but not cigular. I'm still with Cingular cause they always treat me well (been a customer since 1998). I notice that a lot of Verizon customers have to call back when in the metro, either because the reception is poor or cause it's too loud. I think Verizon has good reception, but Cingular is good. A few years back, Cingular had shoddy reception in Glover Park, but now it seems to be better; either do to towers or switching over to the new band I think GSM. Sprint and T-Mobile are fine for urbanites and highway travelers but not for adventerous people. Verizon and cigular are pretty similar.

Despite being told that reception is poor here, near the Russian embassy and down in a valley, I've been pleasantly surprised. Consistent good signal and sound quality.

Its a block from the White House, at the World Bank, and I get shoddy reception on Cingular. The service comes and goes - barely one bar of reception... Cingular please do something!

Can't hold a call for more than 10 minutes. It's been getting worse in the last months. Perhaps nearby embassies security devices?

No stable signal inside my ground-floor apartment. Will show 1-2 bars but calls are one-sided, too staticky to hear and liable to drop for no reason at all. No reliable coverage between just after Wisconsin along K St.towards 34th; drops unexpectedly every few minutes although clear signal. I like their pricing plans and phones, and they worked great in Boston and Vermont, but Cingular seems to be pretty lousy in the Georgetown area. Switching this weekend now that my contract's up.

The reception in this whole neighborhood is so spotty that even if you're outside your house you will drop the call (if it even goes through!)

The reception in my apartment building is terrible. I constantly only get one or 2 bars if any at all and then when I walk outside and a little ways down the street I have full reception. I need reception in my apartment!

Trying to call anyone in this area is absolutley horrible. The most bars I ever saw on my phone was at least 2. But the weird thing is you can get full reception in the DC metro underground.

My Sprint connection is OK here, but I sometimes get dropped calls depending on where I'm standing in my house. Verizon gets substantially better reception while ATT has terrible reception (if any at all).
