As someone else said, I think reception varies with phone. With my previous LG phone I got much poorer reception. Through the Newark region especially to the south and east I usually get five bars plus 3G.

I have never had a problem with my cell phone anywhere in DE, with the exception of through the valley around Montchannin Rd and Thompson Bridge Rd., even in Newark I get good reception. I have one of the least expensive phones and plans - LG VX 5200. The voice quality on this particular model is another story - just is not clear. My old model phone with the same carrier and plan was great... .but the phone bit the dust.

I have no clue what you people are talking about. I get perfect reception on my 6230 and I got perfect reception with my 6200. Even at work or deep in college buildings I always I much better reception than others. I've only found one room in the deepest reaches of one of the buildings on campus that doesn't get reception. BTW Nextel and Verizon users look quizzical when I whip out the 6230 and place a call.. they never have reception.

Cingular rocks in Newark. I used to have Verizon, and they are awful here. Cingular has a site on Cleveland Avenue, and near Applebees (rt 4 and Elkton). Cingular recently bought out ATT, and Cingular can now use ATT towers, they are located ontop of the Chrisitana East Dorm (New London Rd) and at rt4 and 72 intersection. Cingular gets full reception in Pike Creek too, where Sprint and Verizon are dead.

It never works inside aparments unless you are next to the window, if you go deep inside any buidings, you will lose all the signals, at work at the hallways I get 2 to 4 bars, I place a call, and lose all the bars. customers service is OK, I have been to places where my phone does not work at all and see people talking on their cell phone (Nextel and Verizon most of the time).

Pretty terrible reception and dropped calls around Newark. Lots of the problems are my phone, as my roomate has a kyrocera and it works much better. I had sprint and it wasn't much better but it was better.

Verizon is the worst at UD. Terrible. The network is clogged with too many users. The closest tower is about 2 miles away on Cleveland Avenue near Bennigans. I cannot wait to switch. Cingular, ATT, T-Mobile, and Sprint are all pretty good here though. Avoid Verizon in Newark!

I have never gotten good reception with Cingular. I recently moved from the Eklton area to newark / Bear area and thought the reception might improve, but it got worse! I get maybe half a bar, if I'm lucky. If I try to make a call, I often get a "call failed" message. At this point, i'm better off with a cup and string. Oddly, I get full bars at the Elkton Wal-mart. AT&T sucks!
