GSM reception is spotty varying between none and 2 bars whithin 100 meters. There are 4 cell towers withing visual range of this area. Often I must manually select a T-Mobile tower for service. I'm on Cingular and use an unlocked and unbranded Motorola V635 quad band handset.

Every time I make a call, it is dropped at some point. It also happens at Bryan Dairy / Starkey. I now make a point to tell people when I call them, that they may be dropped. Going ahead and paying the $200 to get out of the contract and find a different carrier with better reception in the area!

AT&T has very good reception across the Tampa Bay area, even across the many long bridges.

Almost always good reception at work, around lots of computers. One mile west on Belleair, at home, often no reception inside. I have fairly good reception along I275 and I75 corridor. Just off interstate, often not much.

Switched to AT&T GSM after SEVEN YEARS with Alltel, just to get this great T610 picture phone and lower my monthly costs (Alltel is expensive). Big mistake. Alltel had great coverage, zero dropped calls, great cust service. AT&T screwed everything up, starting with the new web order! My calls go straight to voicemail, no ring, with 2 bars. Can't talk in my own house, no reception. Can't talk at work, no reception. Should have stuck with Alltel. We'll see if Cingular improves things after the transition........
