Poor to no reception. Very frustration to be cut off from the world. No improvement over past 3 years for VERIZON service in this area.

Was a former Alltel customer (Verizon bought Alltel) and never had a reception problem down there while visiting. This past week - 0 - 1 bars. No calls came through nor could I call out. This line is used for business so I was out of touch with not only children but business. Not a good situation. I made 4 service calls to Verizon when I went towards town, with no change in the status. My parents are on Ocean and have good ATT coverage. Maybe that is the answer?

Have to go outside on south side of condos to get reception, but it seems to be the case with everyone in neighborhood.

Transfered from Cingular to Verizon due to poor reception and other issues re. Billing. At the Verizon store their reps assured me of much better signal strength / coverage in my area with their service and the Motorola phone and my wifes Nokia. My Verizon service is marginally better than Cinguar at my home (sometimes 1 bar versus 0 bars). After contacting Verizon service, for not receiving calls but many voice mails, (phone never rings around my house) the Verizon service rep informed me that my specific area is considered as "probable coverage" outside and no coverage inside dwellings. Great, I need to stand in the street to maybe get 0 to 1 bars. However, on the road, I get reasonably good reception in and around this area, assuming I stay out of the beach area. Almost impossible on Amelia Island. I would like to hear some up to date inputs on other wireless suppliers who service this area. Cingular / ATT, Nextel, etc. Thanks for proving this forum for frustrated wireless users.
