Reception has 5 bars, but person I call cannot hear me at all. Am next to ATT tower. ATT says they'll fix it, but they have no idea what's wrong. Have spent over 4 hrs on land line trying to get them to do something. All 4 phones work exactly the same (they don't!)

90% of calls will fail to go through or fail during the call when inside my home. I dropped a call 3 times today on SW 8th within 5 minutes- The ATT "network" in my area is fecal material.

I had great service except for the last 3 weeks. Drops calls. No bars one minute and 2 the next. Only at home. When I get out of this area I have 4 bars. Had new sim card put in. Still same problem. Was told they may be working on tower.

I get drop call a lot. Sometimes, I don't even hear the phone rings and it goes straight to my voicemail. When I'm in call, I can't even hear the conversation. The signal gets drops off all the time.

I have had service with US Cellular which became Cingular and now became AT&T. I have had amazing service since 2001, but the last 2 months have been poor and that's being generous. Constant dropped calls along Archer Road. Have a conversation, gets staticky (sp), drops call with no signal, takes a few minutes to reboot, then full signal. Dropped my call 3 times in 2 mile period. Does this all over town too. may be leaving after these poor 2 months

Archer, SW 2nd Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601 Wed Jun 02, 2010

For the past two weeks, AT&T has spotty connections through out Archer road. At any time, it shows full signal, becomes almost none and then disconnects. Then got to call again to get full signal. Even on SW 2nd ave, where I used to get good signal for the past 4 years, the reception is becoming worse and worse every day! Am I the only one getting spotty connections on Archer (primarily around Shands stretch) and SW ?

AT&T's coverage great everywhere in town except where I live. Inside my new condo just west of Royal Park / Plaza Royale I get poor reception. I have to lurk by a window and remain motionless to get a 2nd bar. Calls constantly fade in and out. Calls get dropped. There were murmurings about putting a tower at Westside Park which would help out that Newberry / 8th Ave. semi-dead zone. Email your commissioners today! Also, I have spotty service west of High Springs at my father's place. He has a metal roof, though. Walking outside keeps the call from getting dropped. When they lowered the cell phone signal strength wattages, a lot of the mobility left mobile phones.

Ever since ATT has taken over Cingular, I have at least half of my calls dropped everyday around Gainesville. It doesn't matter where I am at, on Campus or by the mall or on the Interstate or at home, my calls will eventually get dropped. It is not that phone either because I had it replace three times and the sim card changed twice to see if that was the problem of dropped calls. It wasn't. So that just leaves AT&T's network. Unfortunately, all my friends and family have Cingular and we get free calls to each other. And if I change companies I will lose all that free time. That and the company that does have decent coverage in Gainesville is Verizon but there is something funky with their system where your phone will not ring and you will get a voice mail a day later.

BIGGEST problem with AT&T: I got locked into a 2 year contract without knowing it when I renewed my 1 year contract. They did away with 1 yrs. and I was stuck with a very crappy, old, less than spectacular LG phone. To buy a new one was hundreds of dollars I couldn't afford, and they wouldn't let me upgrade for TWO years. It was a very boring 2 years with a phone that had horrible battery life and a tunnel sound. Poor phone selection is a big one. The only real phone they have is the iPhone. Also customer service is not very helpful. A variety of experiences led me to that conclusion. I agree, have experienced a dead zone at NW 16th Ave. and NW 34th too, calls also always dropped driving down NW 8th Ave. Reception is good, but other problems plague AT&T for me.

Detailed observations: House: I live at SW 8th Ave and 91st I have great coverage in my house and around my neighborhood. On 91st St: Between SW 8th Ave and Newberry, I have no reception in most patches. I don't have issues once I get closer to Haile. Within a house in Haile: A friend lives in Matheson Woods, a Haile neighborhood across from the Haile Country Club. I get no signal inside her home, even next to a window. Occasionally I may get 1 bar, but it is random and sporadic. This is consistent with other phone models as well. Haile Market Square Publix: No signal inside the store for the most part, occasionally I can get 1 bar. Overall, I think AT&T gives good coverage to my area. However, I suggest bringing a friend into your home who has AT&T to verify coverage. Haile is quite large, so other neighborhoods might not have the issue I described. Happy Hunting :)

Dropped calls pretty often, often wouldn't notify me of voice mails days and sometimes even weeks after they were left. Poor reception in general. My roommate has AT&T too but with a different phone, he can't even get reception inside the apartment, has to go outside everytime to make a call. Another friend of mine also has to go outside to make a call pretty often(also cingular).

Although I generally have great reception, I often can't make a call the first try. I rarely have dropped calls, but when speaking with another cell phone we never know who's service dropped the call. Usually get great reception in Gainesville (great everywhere I've been in the country), BUT... In Gainesville the network is always busy between classes and at big events. Often times randomly in neither of the above cases. It got better in past year or two, but still sub-par. This phone is fantastic though. Not a lot of high tech features, but works well and it's a TANK. Cingular / AT&T STILL needs more capacity in G-ville.

I switched from Verizon to Cingular, deferring to my husband's service (newly married). I went against my better judgment and Cingular has proven me right. I hate this service - never know when I'll get reception. I can sit in my office and have 5 bars one second and no bars the next. I'll suffer through this for my hubby's sake but when contract renewal time comes around I'm insisting we go back to Verizon!

Cingular is absolutely no good in Gainesville, Fla. No matter where I go no reception or at the best very poor reception. I go to the Cingular store, have a sim card replaced, they tell me that my phone is the problem. well I have friends with Motorola Razr's, they have the same problem as I do. Cingular may have towers in Gainesvill, Fla, but I question whether they work or not. Today at 11:00 AM, my friend and I was on NE 2nd Street, talking about Cingular and comparing phone signals, I had 2 1 / 2 bars on mine and he had 4 bars on his,we both made a 45 degree turn to look at something and we both lost two bars of signal. I am along with countless others in Gainesville are paying for a service that we are not receiving. Maybe we need to combine forces and bring a class action lawsuit against them, for not providing the service, that we are paying them to provide for us.

Cingular has virtually no reception in Gainesville. "We bleed orange and blue too?" No way. Everyone with Cingular in Gainesville have nothing good to say about its service. "Fewest dropped calls?" Not in Gainesville. The network is constantly busy, taking up to 15 attempts to make a call. Thats if you don't give up after many failed attempts. Its just frustrating. Cingular is a waste of time and money.

The reception is terrible! 99% of the time I get messages saying "network busy" or "channel unavailable" when I try to make calls. When people try to call me all they get is my voicemail which doesn't help because I cant even reach my voicemail to listen to the messages! I go outside to make calls because it is a little better, but usually I end up giving up and using my roomate's phone( she has Verizon) because my calls disconnect every 2 minutes even if I don't move an inch. I called customer service before and they sent me updates to my phone which should make my phone work better, but I think it made it worse. I seriously dread making phone calls now and people don't want to call me anymore because they know the only conversation we can have is " Can you still hear me?" "Are you still there?" When I lived in South Florida Cingular was much better there. I can't wait until my contract runs out in April.

Have to walk outside of apartment and drive somewhere else to talk. It has been getting worse over the past few months. Totally ridiculous... it's 2006, fellas... come on. Cingular has told me that they had three towers in my area that were under repair and would be fixed soon. That was over a month ago. Nothing has changed and "dropped calls" are a given. My neighbor with Cingular has to walk out to the street to get a connection. According to my neighbor, Cingular is the joke on campus. I hope to have them in my past soon.

Even when we have reception, our calls get dropped. We don't get messages until the next day, if ever. When we try to make a call, all we hear is our own voice on the line. Cingular has gone down hill over the past 6 months. I never had a problem with the service but now I have NONE. It started with not receiving my phone calls. Out of no where the phone would say I had a message. THEN, it went to the text messages, they would show up the next day..same with the voice mail. The sad thing is, I have talked to quite a few people who have Cingular and they are having similiar issues. My friend lives right around the corner and we can't even call each other. First thing I did was talk to someone at a Cingular store and was told that it would get better within a week. That was in February. I called Cingular in April and complained that the issue was getting worse, they made me screw around with my phone and then told me it was fixed and I should have no more problems. Now it is June. I have ZERO service. I have called Cingular twice in the past week and I am told that it will be fixed by the 7th. Then some guy from Cingular calls my home (when I said I would not be home till after 6) and left me the nastiest message saying that if they can't get in touch with me they weren't going to fix the problem. I am without a phone and the people who work at Cingular are morons. The are rude and they do not help at all.

Cingular stinks here. All the problems other posters listed are true; dropped calls, failed calls, incoming calls straight to voice-mail; today absolutely nothing. Dead in the water. No service, and when I call myself, it doesn't even go to voice-mail. That means I'm just missing all calls. Yeah, my bill is paid, it's not that... .. Cingular just stinks.

I've been with Cingular for three years. I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to stick with them or go with another provider. I get a lot of fast busy signals when trying to dial a number - particularly around the downtown / NE area. Often, calls will go straight to my voice mail - no ringing! This happens ALL the time!. It is very irritating especially when I'm expecting a call. I'm working from home and was using my cell for work - but had to add another line at my house because the service was not reliable enough. After all these problems, I still don't know if any of the other carriers are any better.

I always have between 4 and 5 bars. I travel back and forth between Santa Fe Community College and UF, and my signal never goes down. Now that Cingular and AT&T have joined forces, the reception is great in Chiefland where my mom lives when I visit her. I am very happy with Cingular and would spread the word to anyone who is thinking of switching companies!
