I like T Mobile. They have good, straightforward customer service. The only real problem I have is when I'm driving through williston I don't get service again until Dunnellon. I just pretend I am driving back 20 years ago when cell phones didn't exist, and I turn up my radio. I've used nextel, Sprint and cellular one and their customer service had me ripping out my hair; and there always seemed to be some catch to their contracts. In the 5 years I've used T Mobile, I have been very satisfied.

For the past two weeks, AT&T has spotty connections through out Archer road. At any time, it shows full signal, becomes almost none and then disconnects. Then got to call again to get full signal. Even on SW 2nd ave, where I used to get good signal for the past 4 years, the reception is becoming worse and worse every day! Am I the only one getting spotty connections on Archer (primarily around Shands stretch) and SW ?

Dropped calls pretty often, often wouldn't notify me of voice mails days and sometimes even weeks after they were left. Poor reception in general. My roommate has AT&T too but with a different phone, he can't even get reception inside the apartment, has to go outside everytime to make a call. Another friend of mine also has to go outside to make a call pretty often(also cingular).

I've had pretty good luck with T-Mobile in Gainesville. I've had them for over 3 years, and have only had maybe a dozen dropped calls that whole time. With Sprint, Nextel, and Cingular (I had them all before switching to T-Mobile), I would get at least one dropped call a week. I'm so tempted to buy an iPhone, but T-Mobile's customer service is top-notch, and the prices for the data connection are great. I may just get an iPhone and unlock it to use with T-Mobile. Oh yeah, I haven't found a single cell company that can keep my connection on NW 8th Ave. between 34th street and 13th, including T-Mobile. I'll give them a call about that tomorrow...

Sometimes Verizon works well but sometimes, in my backyard in downtown Gainesville (Pleasant St.Neighborhood) I get no reception. All the time I won't receive notice of missed calls or received messages for hours. Sometimes until the next day. Customer service at store near Archer and SW 34th St.is deplorable. I strongly recommend not getting this service.

I was in Gainesville recently touring the UF campus and at a football game. I was very happy with Alltel's reception in the area. I had heard this was a problem area for some carriers but the coverage was great. I had no problem placing a call at any time and I don't remember ever dropping below 4 / 5 bars anywhere around Gainesville while going out to eat and shop in the city. I stayed on 5 / 5 bars throughout the campus, even indoors I only noticed a drop to 3 / 5 bars one time but there was generally no drop at all. Very good indoor coverage and the call quality was very clear. This must be a strong area for Alltel as far as coverage goes. I was impressed and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

I've been with Cingular for three years. I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to stick with them or go with another provider. I get a lot of fast busy signals when trying to dial a number - particularly around the downtown / NE area. Often, calls will go straight to my voice mail - no ringing! This happens ALL the time!. It is very irritating especially when I'm expecting a call. I'm working from home and was using my cell for work - but had to add another line at my house because the service was not reliable enough. After all these problems, I still don't know if any of the other carriers are any better.

Poor reception extends to the north into a densely populated area where many students live. I don't understand why it is taking TM so long to serve their customers. I have been a long term customer since the days of PowerTel / VoiceStream and thinking about switching.

Not too bad in general. Some phones drop no calls...like nokia 3650. Others do moreso. Good outside coverage, OK indoor coverage. Pretty strong in general. Better than Sprint by far. On par with Verizon

Reception very poor my area, in my house especially. Dead Zone on NW 8th Ave., Royal Park Area, much of UF Campus Basically, really bad. I only stick with them because of the iPhone. I do not understand how their service can be so poor given the number of towers in the immediate area.

I live one mile north of UF, and I cannot get any reception inside of my home. Even after stepping outside to make my calls, reception is lousy. I have called numerous times about this problem. I had difficulty with Nextel in the NE section of town as well. DO NOT use Nextel in Gainesville, FL (worked fine for me while living in MD and AL).

Cingular is the worst in FL. Awful Customer Service (basically they say on the phone" oh I see you live in Florida, too bad, we are again experiencing problems all over Florida and have no idea when they will be fixed"). Stay away from Cingular here.

I get drop call a lot. Sometimes, I don't even hear the phone rings and it goes straight to my voicemail. When I'm in call, I can't even hear the conversation. The signal gets drops off all the time.

Switched from Verizon (yuk!) to T-Mobile (even worse) to Alltel - yippeee, I finally have reception at home and in my office downtown. Verizion used to just drop calls for no real reason - sometomes 5 bars but call would drop. T-Mobile has just poor coverage. Not very reliable. AllTel I think uses everyones elses towers as well as its own so as long as someone has reception, AllTel should get it. I have found a couple of drop zones, mainly on Interstate 75 north of Alachua but as you come out of the dip, it comes back on. Not had any problems in Gainesville though

At home in Sorrento, I had to leave the phone by the window to ensure I got calls. Service outside the hosue was better but still with dropped calls. I had the 'window reception' problem at work as well with needing to leave the phone by my office window on NW 4th St.in downtown Gainesville.

I've had T-Mobile for a little over a year now, worst reception ever and dropped calls all the time. I'm stuck in a 2 year plan, worst idea ever! DO NOT go with T-mobile!
