99% of the time I have 5 bars both in Fl or NY. I have had no reception problems with Cingular up and down the east coast at all. I call coast to coast with the same good reception. I have had Cingular service and I am well satisfied. The people that work at Cingular are also very pleasant to deal with also.. I wish I could find something negative to say but I can't. And no I do not work for the company.

Nextel is by far the best service I've tried thus far. I started out with Sprint PCS prior to the merger and it was horrible in my area. The only place it worked was at my office, and I'm a mobile computer tech so everywhere else I went to such other client's offices it didnt' work. At home and other people's home I got absolutly no signal. Nextel works okay at my home in cerain places but I don't have to be confined to no window. I don't know about you guys but Sprint is CDMA and Nextel is IDEN and since trying IDEN I don't think I would ever switch to another CDMA carrier until Nextel and Sprint come out with a converged service.

I have had 3 other cell phone companies in the past 5 years and this is by far the best phone sevice I have ever had. The cell phone and home phone can not be told apart. I use the phone coast to coast and have never had a single problem It works great no matter where I go. Inside or out side makes no difference either WORKS GREAT !!
NEXTEL is the only way to go.

I visit family here, and reception is horrible with Sprint. I keep hoping it will improve, but it hasn't yet. It's been like this for several years.

Had Sprint in Arizona which was fine, and in Oregon which was not as good as Arizona, but better than Florida. Just moved here to Florida and most of the time I only have 1 bar and at most 2 bars, although that's rare. The quality is so poor and calls are almost always broken up or dropped. Customer Service says you must fax a request to a special number to get service and contract cancelled without any penalties. Just did that so we'll see if that is true.

Sugarmill Woods Area / Homosassa, FL, Homosassa, FL 34446 |

The Sprint service sucks in many parts of Sugarmill Woods development, (Homosassa, FL) and the worse thing is when you call their idiotic service line and they give you the same BS about "we'll check it and get back to you" (after you've been on hold for 15 minutes). They've never got "back to me" on the results of their tests. Their service people have told me "we get a LOT of complaints from your area". If that's true, wouldn't you think someone would be SERIOUSLY looking into the problem? I am finally facing it, all cell companies suck, they have a captive audience, so they really don't care. If one company runs 100 customers away, they get the 100 that their competitor ran away, so it all equals out. My advice is "if you don't REALLY need a cell, don't get one". We did without them for many years, everything went well, let's get back to doing without them.

I have to go outside to get any reception at all with T-Mobile. It is horrendous. I keep hoping it will improve, but it doesn't. I have finally decided to try another provider.

As Bell System retirees, we've used the VZW service down here seasonally since the early 1990's when it was still pre-merger GTE MOBILNET Tampa Supersystem (B-side CDMA, now run by Alltel since 2000.) VZW America's Choice voice service here is either VZW's own native Florida PCS coverage (1900 mHz CDMA) or Extended Network "roaming" using the afforementioned Alltel B-side 850 mHz CDMA legacy (old GTE) system. Coverage on VZW most phones from either network is good to excellent, largely because of the flat terrain in Florida and the better PCS signal penetration. Great signals in Oak Village Center, Gerbera Court, near the main SMW-CC club house complex, all along Douglas, Linder, etc., whether on foot, by car or inside houses. Several of our elderly friends and neighbors at SMW have replaced their lousy Sprint-Embarq POTS home phone landlines with VZW coverage. We use the service in SMW about 5 times a year or seasonally in the winter. Much better than our VZW service in the DC area! BTW, the only folks we know who use Nextel in SMW are the visiting landscaping contractors, since they like the PTT walkie-talkie feature.
