With Alltel I rarely get more than 1 bar of service, and 10-12 dropped calls monthly from calls inside the home. Cingular usually has 2-3 bars in the same places. Other than this area of Mandarin, Alltel service in Jacksonville is quite good, with more even coverage than Cingular.

I've had AT&T for many years (Since they bought out Cellular One) and they have made many Great improvements with their coverage. 17 years ago there service was poor here where I live. Now they have installed a new Tower at the corner of Chaffee and Normandy and never had a drop call or no service since. While my one friend has been here many times with many different carriers for service and none of them would work here. He would have to walk across the street to make or receive a call. He finally gave up and switched to AT&T. I have traveled from Fl to Pa many times with usable service all the way. They don't have the best prices but I do believe they do have the best service across the USA.

Dunno how often people may comment how good a service is on sites like these, but despite the fact that I really want an Evo 4g with Sprint, my iPhone has been working great with AT&T. The fact that there're minimal good comments about Sprint has me nervous. However, no matter what phone I've had with ATT, my calls always drop at the intersection of San Jose and University. And there's another spot closer to Baymeadows where calls always drop. Lastly, I occasionally drop at I-95 near the Golfair Blvd.exit. But those're the only three dead pockets I've found. That's a good track record considering some providers don't even get signal inside certain buildings... and I've never lost signal in a building before. Or at home.

I frequently have dropped call or no service in my house and around Jacksonville. However, Mandarin on the southside of Jacksonville typically has very good coverage but most of Fruit Cove is barely covered until CR 210. Would not reccomend AT&t in Fruit Cove.

I lose coverage in my office near Belfort / JtB but also my home JTB / Hodges. I have older I-phone but my wife has a Samsung 3G and she gets dropped calls as well in our house. 2 cell towers on JTB do not show up on this map? Whose are they? will switch to Verizon and take my chances. Had Sprint before and it was very bad as well.

Dawsons Creek Subdivision in Argyle (past SR 23) has horrible reception. I'm lucky to get 1 bar and when I answer a call... then it drops it. Phones used is: a Razor (1 1 / 2 years old) and my husband uses a New PDA that he just purchased in January (purchased after service provider said to see about upgrading his phone (only 1 year old at the time) to get a better signal. SUCKER! Guess what, it didn't work.

I swore on my Cingular cell for years. When ATT took over I began swearing at my phone! I never had dropped calls and lousy reception until the exact week of the merger. After 5 years I am switching to another carrier. So long more (empty) bars!

When Cingular was Cingular we had great reception. As soon as they sold out to AT&T the phone service will not work in the house - unless I stand in my closet or go outside.

I have had three Samsung SGH807D cell phones and my wife has had two Samsung SGH407D phones with AT&T. My wife and I get very poor service either at home or while I am at work aboard NAS Jacksonville Fl. We both suffer from frequent dropped calls or loss of service entirely. Even when we are traveling down the road we lose connection. When calling each other while I am at work and she is on the road we can not reach each other and even leaving a message sometimes takes several hours for that message to reach the other.

Geat service. I travel around the country and it's great. Good thing about Cingular is that it works in other countries. Only Cingular and T-Mobile work out of the country. Even though sometimes I only have two bars, it's still clear!

Dead spots on JTB and 95 around Emerson. Also between Deerwood and Publix on Baymeadows (east of Southside) there is a dead spot. Difficulty getting a signal indoors. I've noticed some folks are able to talk on their phones while in the elevator at the Bank of America location by the Avenues: not sure what their carrier is (different protocol used). All in all I am very happy with Cingular as I travel all around Jacksonville and North Florida: signal strength is normally 4 bars. In turn, I have been on Nextel and Sprint and bother were horrible. T-Mobile and Verizon are also good choices.

I have been using Cingular for many, many years now and very rarely have a problem. And when I do, I call in and they get it fixed in a matter of a day or two. I switched to the new high speed broadband system and use the video feature a lot. I find it very entertaining and the reception always works no matter if i'm inside my home or out walking the dog. highly recommend Cingular if you are having a problem with your carrier. my wife had Verizon and was having terrible service especially at home. she switched to cingualr when I upgraded to the blackjack and we both are very happy...

Can get a signal at the house usually a 3 or 4 bar until you press send then it goes down. 90% of time we get disconnected. Cingular sent new sim card and it didn't do a single thing. Tried boosters and they don't work either. It's never the same, one time you can get a signal standing on your head in the kitchen, the other day not. Cingulars Billing is absolulty crazy. I had to call them every month for the first 7 month because they were trying to bill me for something like going over my minute because they charged me for Mobile to mobile. Or charging roaming fee's for checking your voice mail. I have good service most placed in West side / OP area but not in Walmart or some spots on base. Watch their billing they are sneaky!
