I live in Shady Pines and my cell phone often changes to roaming inside my own home. At least I get service at home. At work, off of 103rd and I-275, I rarely even get roaming. Bottom line: It's not just Cingular with bad connections. I have Verizon.
I have been using Cingular for many, many years now and very rarely have a problem. And when I do, I call in and they get it fixed in a matter of a day or two. I switched to the new high speed broadband system and use the video feature a lot. I find it very entertaining and the reception always works no matter if i'm inside my home or out walking the dog. highly recommend Cingular if you are having a problem with your carrier. my wife had Verizon and was having terrible service especially at home. she switched to cingualr when I upgraded to the blackjack and we both are very happy...
Compared to my friends and family, Sprint, with this phone does a tremendous job. After owning several Motorola POS phones, I can say that the equipment *does make a difference*.
Can get a signal at the house usually a 3 or 4 bar until you press send then it goes down. 90% of time we get disconnected. Cingular sent new sim card and it didn't do a single thing. Tried boosters and they don't work either. It's never the same, one time you can get a signal standing on your head in the kitchen, the other day not. Cingulars Billing is absolulty crazy. I had to call them every month for the first 7 month because they were trying to bill me for something like going over my minute because they charged me for Mobile to mobile. Or charging roaming fee's for checking your voice mail. I have good service most placed in West side / OP area but not in Walmart or some spots on base. Watch their billing they are sneaky!
When at home I have to keep my phone on roaming to get any chance of a signal. All other cell providers get a great signal. Sprint replaced my phone but the signal of course did not improve. I have about 4 towers within 2 miles of my apartment, does not matter. I miss a lot of calls. I have become the customer from Hell. Although it does have its advantages, I can always tell someone I didn't have my phone on roaming so I missed their call. It's pretty bad when you are calling Sprint and the call is dropped. It's funny how I was two miles OFF the coast and I had a full signal with no roaming. Things that make you think... .
Work forced a Nextel Blackberry model #POS on me. I shopped for my personal phone for some time (Consumer Reports, this site, forums, blah, blah... ). My Verizon is GREAT. Of course, compared to the Nextel, anything is better, but the Motorola 815 / Verizon is great! Short story: Razor TOO small, Motorola E815 top of list, Verizon 'Best Service', online deal for phone, easy number transfer, works without having to run to driveway, fun to play with (hacks on the way)... .. Live in Mandarin, work in World Golf Vill., all good.
Phone constantly drops calls. Will have full antena then nothing at all. This is inside and outside of the house. I have to keep moving or I loose call. Cingular keeps saying its my phone. But friends in the area have different phones and they have the same problem. One Cingular customer service said that we have old towers in the Arlington area and thats the problem. My OLD Nokia phone that does not have GSM always has a full antena and never drops a call, so old towers could be the problem we are having in the Arlington area.
