Switched from Cingular due to dropped calls, or calls that went straight to voice mail without ringing. Thoroughly satisfied with Verizon service from Palm Beach to South Beach. I do wish CDMA / Verizon had a more inspired choice of handsets... ... .

My apt faces the ocean, decent reception unless I go into the bathroom, where it drops noticeably.

Everywhere I go I get good signal, sometimes even inside of elevators. The only two spots I had some minor trouble has been in my inhouse office (tiny) and in the bathroom. Suxs that it's at home, but I limit my self from talking there but besides that anywhere.

It doesn't work in any building or at FIU. Works fine outside. Works good while driving. It doesn't have such a good receptiion in North Miami Beach. T-Mobile has the best customer service ever! I am their customer from last two years and am never disappointed. Sprint has the worst customer service. A friend of mine even told me that they charge for calling customer service.

Just moved here from SC and the reception is terrible. For a metro area you would think they would have better coverage. No 3g most of the time. I have the Iphone so I can surf and call. Pointless here. But reviews of other carriers is just as bad. Come on Miami work this out!

Belle Isle (Venetian Causeway) / Island Ave. East, Miami Beach, FL 33139 Sat Dec 30, 2006

Really sub-par performance. Dropped calls about 5% of the time. Echoes on many calls. Scratchy, 'digital' sound. Especially bad late afternoon. Cingular says it's my building (I live on 23rd floor) and that cell phone service is designed to work only on the fourth floor or below. Well, in Miami about half of the population lives in high rises, so that really doesn't cut it. I can also clearly see a cell tower about 1,000 feet to the northeast. Also, almost no service on the other Venetian Islands, or on MacArthur Causeway or I-195 from Miami to the Beach. Cingular says that they "gurantee service" but that they cannot "guarantee it will work." Whatever. Yet another dissapointing experience with a quais-monopoly business. Other areas that are problems: Four Seasons Hotel on Brickell, American Airline Concourse D at MIA. The beach, south of 8th street.

Even if the bar shows 3 / 4 of signal, I receiving complaints from my friends (even worst, from my girfriend and from my boss) absolutely no reception at some places, as meridian ave and 17th st, I'm Sprint customer since 5 years ago, and can tell you all, since this company joint with nextel, I can't receive more than 70% of the incoming calls. I've called customer support more than 5 times, in the last two months, they telling me that I've to call from any other phone in order they can test my phone, again, I've changed the phone 3 times, now trying, with "top of phones" palm treo 700p, same problem. my bills are $140 a month, can anybody believes that?. I've a lot o friends using metro pcs, and proved to have (even if metro PCS is the worst signal strenght company in south florida) they complaint about my service. Amazing! you pay 3 or 4 times of the worst competitor and get only a half of service. Please try to ask any friend before to sign "a nightmare contract" with the worst company in miami beach.

Reception itself is good, but ATT data network repeatedly fails. Several times a month I will have good signal and no data transfer. ATT will occasionally acknowledge network problems, but generally only after extensive troubleshooting of my handset.

Moved to South Miami Beach from Cambridge MA where the phone and service were working OK. Now 3G seldom seems to be working; 0-2 bars max calling signal; calls go straight to voice mail(I never hear the phone ring); seem to receive txts OK, but getting error messages 90% of the time when I try to txt out. Virgin Mobile's coverage map says I should have Best signal and 3G coverage... This is really far below what is acceptable.

This just happened... I don't understand... Metro used to be great in my apartment, full bars - three at worst - but now I am at 0-2 bars all the time since about three months ago... is there a tower out or something?

Just moved to 15th floor of a highrise. Very poor reception, people can't hear me, calls drop if I move. Can't get more than 3 bars, even on the balcony. Used to live on the beach at 63rd and Collins and got excellent reception there.
