I don't know if the person below me will read this, but I've had the same problem. As of about two weeks ago I just completely lost signal in my home and around the immediate area. Have you found anymore information on this or anything? 'Cause this is really an inconvenience.

When we moved here 7 months ago, I had great reception everywhere, including my house. As of a week ago, I've lost all signal in / around my house. Zero bars, no calls, no texting, delayed / no voicemail. When I cross the bridge to Destin, my signal comes back 4 or 5 bars.

This has been happening for the last couple months. ATT keeps saying that it will be fixed "tomorrow" but tomorrow never happens.

Have had very good reception everywhere from Crestview, Hwy85 between Crestview and Niceville, near the airport, and in Fort Walton Beach. There is only one area that I drive where I experience dropouts - it is on Hwy. 285, heading north out of Niceville. The dropout starts with a slow fade in reception starting a few miles out of town - then, I get a dropped call. It lasts for several miles. This is the Eglin reservation, but there is a tower out there (Verizon network, I believe). I don't remember getting dropped calls in this area a couple of years ago when we first signed up with Alltel.

While Verizon and Sprint customers struggled along Hwy. 98 from Pensacola to Destin, I enjoyed zero dropped calls and good, steady data rates on EDGE networking. I can't complain about Cingular / AT&T today!

If my memory is correct, Alltel has been in this area the longest before everybody else started building a network so I was surprised nobody else had reviewed them for this area. But then I heard the complaints about the others and now I think that Alltel just doesn't have the same problems so nobody is online trying to write poor reviews about them in this area. Alltel's network shows they've been here the longest as there's really nowhere that I can't make a call. I have a full signal at residence and all relatives residences as well as around the high school. It's really good all over the area here and this part of Florida. I have traveled away from the area a number of times over the past few years and Alltel seems to really focus on coverage. I'm preparing to add a line to my account and will stick with Alltel after coming to this site. Alltel's plans seem like a much better deal compared to others anyway. All providers are costly in my opinion but Alltel seems to give more minutes for the price and some nice features like My Circle. The customer service has been good too at the store here. Overall, to me, Alltel is the clear choice for this part of Florida.

Customer service is the pits. Read your contract VERY CLOSELY. They Will raise the rate in mid contract and if you don't catch it, your stuck with it. Does this sound like a company you would like to deal with?? Coverage is spotty at best in Okaloosa county.

If you use your phone in this area expect spotty service at best. Dropped calls and broken reception are the norm. East on 20 service only gets worse. Coverage on Eglin AFB is bad outside to nonexistent inside. Voice mail is broken up so you can't understand messages most of the time or they don't come in till a few hours or days later. Nextel doesn't care about your lack of service unless you want to buy a new phone. Don't even think of plan changes or new equipment with out a new 2 yr commitment. Works well in major metro areas but not around here. They promise the world for new customers but once they have you, you'll get nothing but excuses and double talk.

Around airport poor to no reception. Same for Beal near fairgrounds. Hwy. 85 to Crestview poor to no reception. Also NO reception on I 10 from Crestview east to Tallahassee.Defuniac Springs area poor as well as around Dothan. I left Sprint for Verizon and I am very happy. Sprint customer support is so poor, I wonder why anyone would EVER do business with them.

The 2 way radio feature worked great during Hurricane Katrina last year but cell phone service is terrible. Phone never rings in the house - it goes straight to voice mail. People I talk to say they hear all kinds of static on their end. I can't talk on the phone inside and it's touch and go outside. Service is so terrible that I will not be renewing at the end of my contract! Recently traveled to NC and I had no service. My daughter has Cingular and she had service. My son-in-law has Verizon and he had service. So the problem was not that we were in the mountains it's just terrible service from Nextel / Sprint,
