I have an older Motorola which works fine but my wife's LG drops all calls at home for past 5-6 wks---2 trouble tickets and 2 refurbished LGs later plus a switch to Motorola phone have not solved the problem. Told we need to upgrade to a new model cellphone when seems to be a reception issue? Alltel technical cannot figure out the problem with reception even though cell tower only 2 miles away on Hwy. 40. Will likely switch to another provider and take my entire family with me and screw their contracts.
Amazing Service! The guy at the Alltel store in Ocala had told me that all the towers in the area had been upgraded to EvDo technology, and that the Internet on my phone would be lightning fast. At first, I was very skeptical, then I took the phone out and about to see exactly what I was getting myself in to. We all know that these companies are serious about the trial period! Low and behold, its been phenomenal! I'm saving over 50% from my Nextel Blackberry, have service when and where I need it, and Alltel has My Circle! I couldn't ask for a better experience!
On my phone I normally have 4 to 1 bar in my house the coverage I am getting is AT&T s 3G network which FINALLY came to slocala. But my dad has the Motorola razor V3xx and always have 5 bars lol. Normally on my cell when I come closer into town around my school and the mall I have better coverage and I normally get 5 - 4 bars
I live off of 225A and have had Cingular service for 2 yrs but had AT&T for over 9 years previously which of course was bought out by Cingular. I never dropped a call until I had Cingular service I dropped a call just yesturday after turning off Hwy. 27 onto 225A. Cingular has the worst service and I drop calls all over central Florida. Many times I can't use my phone at all from locations that I had used the phone at just minutes before. The service has been much worse in the last 2 to 3 months with busy circuits etc. My voice mails show up days to weeks after people have left them. Many times I get recordings saying that calls are not allowed or blocked which is impossible. The only thing worse than Cingulars cell phone service is their customer service, it's so bad I don't even want to go there. I even get poor reception and dropped calls talking to the 611 service department! It has been worth the monthly bill to let Cingular spread it's own bad word of mouth every time someone calls me and realizes how bad Cingular is, it's worth it to me.
At this actual intersection there is no reception as someone else mentioned, but as soon as I get 50 feet away on any side of it, I have reception again. I live in a neighborhood nearby and I do pretty well through there. In fact, it has improved from when I first got this phone so I assume that Cingular is indeed making efforts in this area. I drive around Marion county a lot. I agree with other posts that Anthony and McIntosh are basically total dead zones. Except on the west side of 441 in McIntosh I get reception. Fellowship can be spotty too. Everywhere "in town" in Ocala I seem to do very well other than in certain buildings (grocery stores, mall). I actually can talk inside Home Depot, which astounds me. Overall I'm pretty pleased with my reception on this phone, but my husband has the v557 (also on Cingular) and he thinks his reception sucks though I have no specifics to back that up with.
TracFone - Reselling Cingular service. GSM coverage extreemly good in most areas. Very weak signal in only spotty rural areas as well as areas inside Paddock Mall (Big building - to be expected). Connection and conversation still maintained. Only "no signal" occured inside Paddock Mall. Once I powered the phone off and back on, I immediatly got nearly full signal strength.
NO SERVICE! Plus a recent trip to south Florida, a new phenomena occured--My "number" and all Cingular numbers are no longer in service going through Orlando area (60 mile radius). In south Florida, I would not receive calls, but did get a message alert. Tried 10x to dial for messages and either had the "redialing" mode or told I had misdialed and try again. Went to Cingular service center, reports: Ocala has 15 towers down and being worked on, with no time table. Gainesville is worse--19 towers are out. South Florida has 1 tower out, and unknown why service was lousy... Why pay for a cell phone with o service? Was told that 2008 we all will have to have new phones!
I have Cingular ATT and since it has been taken over, we get spotty reception at this location. BUT my big BEEF is my husband and I can no longer call each other on our cell phones for the most part. Even with full bars and from one end of the house to the other. Cingular has reset our phones, we turn them off once a week and we take out and reset the Syms card, all to no avail. I am wondering which service to sign up for now, since there is no way we can reach each other in an emergency, dependably.
No reception inside, poor reception outside. Have had ATT / Cingular for 4 yrs, and as of last month, I can get NO signal inside of my house. What's the change? Cingular says they are upgrading their systems, what ever that means. It's been over 1 month with out service. I have threatened to leave and they credited 1 week of service. How much business did I lose from not being able to get calls? Probably a lot. Boycott Cingular.
