I started out with Sprint and could only talk inside the house upstairs by a window. I tried Nextel but still could only talk upstairs. Sprint was an LG mid range phone and Nextel was a MOTO v730 (I think) so wasn't a cheap phone. I switched to Verizon and really don't have a problem inside or out. I've been to West Palm, Michigan and California with o any serious issues with the reception. I travel from the airport area to Lake Mary and very seldom drop a call. Of course, you're going to pay more which is why I'm considering T-Mobile based on feed back from co-workers and clients. Better deal on the phone and data service for email. Plus, Verizon tends to cripple their phones so they can charge for some of the functions that the manufacturers built into them. Cingular has a better selection in phones but what difference does that make if you can't use them. Sprint and Nextel aren't much better... or is it the other way around.
I can make calls but as soon as I am in a conversation it drops out. I live right off this intersection in Lee Vista Sq. They say that it is the tower and not my phone. I say they have bad coverage and they are trying to con us into thinking it is good.
I just moved into this area and knowing the upper-end area this is I am quite disappointed to find out that Nextel service inside and around the Bay Hill area is poor to none. Having 6 Nextel phones in this house is now QUITE annoying! Guess this is what we get for moving next to a celebrity's house.
I switched to Cingular in response to their commercial about the fewest dropped calls. I cannot make a call from inside my house. I spoke to Cingular and the said that great coverage was available one street to the west of me. They also said that I lived in the middle of three of their towers. Still I cannot get more than 2 bars on a good day. To be honest, I had the same trouble with Nextel. I paid $200 to get out of the Nextel contract early and switch to Cingular. No one is offering a solution, just "I'm Sorry".
