Alright area - usually about 2-3 bars, stays at a steady 3 outside houses. Inside the Publix here however, signal dies - most likely due to the construction of the building; would be nice if Cingular could get permission to put up a tower much nearer to the Publix, so at least I could hold some signal in there.

Great reception outdoors! Good reception in most other places. Signal in the house is marginal at best. I have to be next to a window, sometimes with my face pressed on the window [laughs]. Overall, not too shabby besides the signal in my house. I have a landline for indoor calls.

This is the best AT&T GSM phone I have ever owned. It works everywhere out of doors and in most commercial buildings.
The three other GSM phones i have owned have NOT operated on 850. The AT&T store rep told me they took all the single band phones off the market.
Different markets operate on different frequencies. (either 850 or 1900. )
The old phones would not work in my house but did work outside.
The NEC works like a charm at home. (I do not have a home phone)
I usually have at least 3 out of 4 bars on the signal strength meter.

with gsm service reception varies from 5 to 0 at random, constantly drops calls, would not recommend this combination to anyone, changed phones to nokia 3100, it's a little better, bottom line at&t sucks in this area.

I drive I-4 from downtown to Lake Mary and reception is OK but not great. GSM service has a lot of echo driving through downtown. Generally, poor reception and voice quality.

No reception from inside office. Micro-sized dead spots outside. Many "network busy" messages even when signal strength is good.
