Very good service almost everywhere but at home (East Callaway Heights area). This is my first wireless so I really can't compare with other providers. The map shows a Verizon tower close by so if a strong signal is important while in this area they may be a better choice.

A friend convinced me to try Alltel and I must say I've been very impressed with how strong the signal is in this area. I specifically live off of Lake Dr. but the reception has been pretty much perfect throughout the area. I even get a signal throughout the dreaded Wal-Marts where my friends often drop calls. Very happy with reception, they must have put a lot of towers up here because it's a tourist destination. But no dropped calls or any problems. Also, the company seems a little more customer friendly than my old provider (Cingular), not only with more helpful customer service but if you compare the plans, Alltel gives more minutes and My Circle is a good deal. I'm happy with them. The Alltel salesman also told me to invest in a good phone like a Motorola because that really helps the calls sound clearer and better so that's what I did and they sound great.

Live in Lynn Haven and normally get full bars. But even with that, my signal loses quality in the middle of a phone call. There is one spot on Hwy. 98, at Under the Oaks Park where my signal drops completely and I lose calls. That seems to be the only place where that happens though.

I moved to Panama City a month ago (end of October, 2011). At the office, I show the 3G logo but have no bars and I'm lucky to be able to get text messages. A mile away, at home, I can place and receive calls but I haven't been able to send a picture by SMS since I got here.

Since AT&T went 3G in Panama City my reception couldn't be better. My wife even had Verizon while I had AT&T. As soon as AT&T turned on 3G her reception stopped in my home and I could use my phone anywhere in my house, even in the metal building in the back of my house. I was very frustrated with AT&T for a long time however I am pleased they finally have invested in Panama City. Their 3G is amazingly fast, much faster than Verizon's, and being able to surf the web while in a conversation has been awesome, even on my little Propel. Thank you AT&T.

Reception in the house is useless. Reception outside can vary from useless to 4 bars depending on where in the yard you stand. Not having reception in the house is unacceptable.

If you live in the Panama City area, NEVER choose AT&T as your carrier. If you do have AT&T, I hope you jump to another carrier as I soon plan to do. Reception is HORRIBLE. I can barely manage 1 bar within my house, and maybe 3 bars outside of it. Usually I am greeted with less than zero bars (the antenna signal doesn't even appear) and if I try to dial a number, I am rebuked with an "emergency calls only" message! My calls are constantly dropped. I have had over 5 drops within a 10 minute conversation. It is always a gamble whether or not a call will go through, and then beyond that whether or not I can make it through without getting dropped. I have it from a friend who sold cells phones under multiple carriers that Verizon is quite nice... I think maybe I'll give one of their stores a visit soon.

I use a Net10 phone which rents towers from differ ent companies in different areas. In Panama City. I think is mostly Cingular but could also be others. I am pleased with the service ( averages $15 / mo for 150 min). But there are two big dead spots. From Star ave. and Old Bicycle Rd to 2297 and from there into Allanton. Also from Star and Hwy. 22 to 2297 and down to Allanton. Reception in Allanton and everywhere else in Panama City Area is great!

I get poor reception on Tyndall AFB, and no reception inside my office. I have to go outside to make a call. Even if I do get through, I am constantly having dropped calls. The worst part is that the calls do not actually disconnect, so you keep eating minutes while not being able to talk. LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I get good reception with my phone, but it's unbelievable how often my calls get dropped. It's impossible to maintain a call for longer than 20 minutes. Even a 10 minute phone call is a stretch. What a waste of money... very unsatisfied.

Cingular doesn't seem to be too bad, but the worst place for reception is my house. It's not like I live out in the boonies. I live in the middle of Panama City and my reception is on average about 0 to 1 bars. According to the customer service maps, I should get "good" reception, but reality is far from what is on paper. I think it's also pretty good everywhere else with the exception of inside of Wal-Marts. I probably would give Cingular a higher rating, but not having good reception at home absolutely kills me.

Nextel has many customers who live in this area. It is also the fastest growing area in the county. The East Bay LLC investment group has very big plans for this area, with extremely expensive real property construction. The question is, Will Nextel / Sprint wake up and put a tower up in this area? Alltel has one. I have to use Nextel for work purposes, if not I would still be with Alltel. Nextel placed a new tower on w 23rd street earlier this year. Why?? I had service on 23rd street already. How about placing some where they count. Constuction workers are Nextel's larges subscribers just for the quick ptt feature. They need service in this area more than ever. If you live in east Callaway, Do not buy Nextel.

Nextel svc on hwy 22 east of Callaway is poor. While on 2297, no bars but I have"service". Most calls drop. No svc in a house. East of Callaway heights, no svc all the way to and including Wewa. Nextel's reception and clarity dosn't even come close to my wifes Trackphone.

I have used Sprint since moving to Bay County Fl in '04, the service in the rural ares as always been sub-par,either low reception or dropped calls no matter the make and model of the phone(unless roaming, which it generally needs for coverage in these areas ex; Bayou George,Southport, however,in town, like Lynn Haven or out on the beach,i get anywhere from average to perfect signal,i have heard from co-workers and friends that Verizon's coverage in the rural areas is better,i'm considering a switch at the end of the year, but not fully convinced that there is a perfect carrier,i fear I will trade one problem area for another.
