Have had Alltel for many years, I got rid of Bellsouth (AT&T) beacuse it never worked when I needed it to. I have little to no issues with alltel. EVDO is extreamly fast when using it with my laptop.
If you have Sprint you absolutely must have a Sanyo phone to get the best possible reception with them. I learned this over the years, it's true in all areas. I've been with them since 96 and have lived all over the U.S. My phone works inside the elevator at WFH, thats how good sanyo is with sprint. If you have Cingular Motorola works the best. You would think a company would only want to carry phones that offer the best possible service with them because it makes them look bad otherwise. However that isn't the case, subscribers with an inferior phone therefore often assume its the service. Lg and Samsung make light weight little phones with lots of features but they have compromised antenna reception to do so. They only dead spots I experience last for a few feet in areas where it messes with everyones phone no matter what they have which are scenic hwy, 12th ave / gonzalez and pace. have not experienced a problem anywhere that other people with different carriers dont.
Before Ivan I could not go in my hose without losing the call, but they must have added or replaced the tower. I never lose a call now! However I just got a Blackberry 8330 and my signal is a bit lower, but still have no problem with dropped calls.
From my home reception is excellent. But from most other locations it is average to poor. As an emergency service it is more than adequate. ( walk ten or 15 feet to get a signal) but as a seemless phone service it needs a superior phone to get the most from this service. To sum up service is worth the money but not a great deal.
Outside, for the most part, I get about 4 bars, but lately have been hitting dead zones for a few seconds. Inside my house I have intermittant signal. It goes from 0 to 5 bars when I do not move at all. I do not see how its the house if I'm not moving, but it is possible.
Outside I get full bars, but inside my apartement I get 1 bar or no bars. You can put the phone by the window if you're using a wireless headset. That seems to work.
Reception with this phone is trully abysmal. There should no reason that Cellphones now-a-days should have such bad quality. Thanks alot Tmobile... you sure know how to slip it in without any vaseline!
I live and work off Davis between Airport and University, service on Sprint between here is horrible. It may be the phone that I have since other people at work have service in the building with Sprint, but I don't. It is a waste of money to have to get a house phone just because my cell doesn't get service in my house unless I stand on my head in the far corner and have my foot touching the electrical outlet to keep from dropping a call.
