AT&T signal couldn't be better here on the west side of St. Petersburg near SPC--iPhone has worked wonderfully well for the year that I have had it--I had a Motorola RAZR before that and it also worked just fine. I can't believe all the bad things I'm hearing about AT&T. My experience is just the opposite. Good wireless signal and good customer service from the AT&T company store near Tyrone Mall.

I've had AT&T for years--great reception most everywhere in downtown St. Petersburg-- including inside buildings. Only had one dropped call in several years and that was on the Howard Franklin Bridge. AT&T (and Cingular before them) has always given me four and five bars. I'm off contract and could switch anytime, but I'm staying with AT&T !

I have to say that while not absolutely perfect, Verizon Wireless has been good for me. At peak drive times, calls often go straight to voice mail while I sit at my desk, but otherwise coverage is good throughout southern Pinellas County. About 25% of the time a call will be dropped on the Howard Frankland bridge, but dropped calls are otherwise rare. I travel extensively and find Verizon coverage to be largely reliable. Uh, no, I don't work for them and wish I had an iPhone, but you guys scare me about AT&T.

Verizon is the best in this area. There are very few holes in coverage. T-Mobile and Cingular have many reception problems in this area.

I have never had a dropped call with Verizon wireless. From the beaches on the coast to inside the St. Pete Times Forum (nobody else had phones that worked inside the building), and ALL THE WAY on the Howard Franklin... verizon wireless is the best option to be found if you live anywhere in the tampa bay area from Clearwater to Tampa, and south into St. Petersburg.

I have been with the same provider since 1993... they had been GTE Mobilnet... reception has never been a problem. The thing that may have me changing carriers is their declining service and phone selection. I have had a couple of bad Motorola phones in the past, but Alltel's people made the difference (trading out phones, updating software, or simply moving me to different models)... but now it seems like the stores no longer have any power to do anything. I got the V60 because it was supposed to have been a "proven" phone, but the data / power port is poorly designed and fails all the time, so I randomly end up with a dead phone that I thought had charged overnight, or won't connect to my hands-free unit in the car... or worse yet, connects intermittently. Alltel did change out my chargers and cables for a while -- which would help a little -- but it now seems they just wanted me to keep the phone until the warranty ended, and now they just say it's between me and Moto.

Even with 1 signal bar the phone sounds loud and crystal clear. I can even eluminate an entire room in the dark because of how bright the display is, and the ringtones are the best!

I had TMOBILE under a corporate plan for 6 years but left the company. I picked out a new phone with VERIZON and it didn't last 6 days with me... HORRIBLE reception, texts would go thru, texts would be received under another persons name. I switched back to TMOBILE..didnt know how good I had it. My only gripe is lack of reception when I travel, but I understand that is improving.

I'm in between floors and perfect reception every time. But this is a metro area thus I expected it. A perfect test for a cell phone reception would be North Port (about an hour south of here). :-)

We have two Samsung and drive county wide without a reception issue. Calls are clear inside as well as outdoors. We've been using T-Mobile and Samsung for 10 years and have no complaints. We have clients that used T-Mobile and other phones that had no reception where we had no problems, leading me to suspect it was the phone and not the network. From reading your explanation it seems to support a theory of mine that there are to many users of AT&T in this area, consequently they are flooding the network and dropping calls.
