Very poor reception outside, often no reception at all inside apartment. Three different models of phone: Samsung, iPhone 3, iPhone 4, all show one or zero bar. Whole Gulf Gate shopping area is like that - very poor reception on ATT, lots of dropped calls.

I'm going to be in Alaska on business and am told, by nextel, that there is no service in AK. I will have to find another service provider.

My iPhone 4 barely works at my house whether inside or out, upstairs or downstairs. the phone shows anywhere from 1 - 3 bars but trust me,.5 would be more accurate.

No reception in the house and hit and miss in the surrounding area. Talked to tech support - no help. I had no problem with Virgin - will switch back once I have used up my minutes.

I moved from another city in Florida and never had a problem In fact service was so good there I dropped my landline. Now Im in Sarasota and wow, its awful. I cant use the phone in my house. I cant get through one call without losing the call. I am going to need to pick up a landline again :( ahhh just when I thought I was free of the whole "home" phone thing Im back again. The sad thing is I bought the EVO and am getting charged the xtra 10 a month for 4 g. I would just be glad to get service in my apartment period! That would be worth the extra 10 bucks alone! If you live out here off University in Palm aire area dont get Sprint.

It's been a year since my last comment. Reception is still very bad, no change. Tibet has better cell service than east Sarasota County. Coverage map showing best to very good in this area is a flat out lie. My phone has Nextel from Sprint on the front so I am not sure who gets the credit for very bad service. I had to install an in-house signal booster in order to have any cell reception indoors. Outside is iffy, with frequent dropped calls, or no signal.

No reception in the house, and hit-or-miss in the neighborhood. The only thing the folks at T-Mobile can suggest is for us to keep rebooting our phones to try to catch a signal. Once we get out onto Bee Ridge Rd (5 streets away), the signal jumps from nothing to full bars.

Most cell phones, regardless of carrier, do not work inside houses. No improvements in reception in this area in over a decade.

A few years back a new tower gave north Siesta Key great coverage. Now, as 3G is being added, we jump back an forth from #g to Edge with 3G signal strength running from 0-1. Thank you progress!

Reception was OK for a few weeks then it quit altogether. Zilch Nada. Even with five bars I can't call or text. Wife's ancient Sanyo Sprint phone works just fine. Sprint gave me a new LG Rumor 2 and it fails also.

Verizon was great in Massachusetts, but only one bar here, Verizon advised me to buy a network extender from them for $250.00 but could not guarantee I would get better service?? So, get a land line, and pay or extender and pay. Its all about the money, but you knew that!

ATT is just pathetic.. they have the best phone in the market, but do not care about their own customers... Reception is pathetic in my area... no answers from them regarding coverage

Verizon is the best coverage in Sarasota. I desperately want an iPhone, but the AT&T reception is so poor, it won't work at my house.

Alltel has never dropped a call for me and I always have more bars than my friends. Best coverage in all of florida.

metro PCS is great all over sarasota much better than T-Mobile and Sprint my previous carriers. the price cant be beat and you don't have to keep track of how many minutes or texts you use.

Metro PCS is a good value and deffinetly worth a try. Coverage is actually better than T-Mobile my previous carrier.

Horrible reception both in and outside of my house.

AT& T is the worst. All their commercials show funny skits about loosing calls and more bars.Why don't they just put their money into keeping the customers satified instead of this BS
