Verizon seems to have fixed the problem. Service is even better then before!

OUTSTANDING reception not only at the location specified, but everywhere on the west side of town. Excellent reception on FSU and FAMU campuses too. I don't go to the east side much, but I have great reception when I go there too.

I've been using Cingular / AT&T for many years. The coverage has only gotten better. I've only experienced one dead zone in Tallahassee and that was off Apalachee Pkwy. in the Timber Ridge neighborhood. No service is available in that location, but move out onto Apalachee Pkwy. and reception comes back. Making trips out of town have been a joy with AT&T. Service is good as far west as I have been (Gulfport, MS) and as far east as I have gone. (Jacksonville / St. Augustine) Those who state they have had trouble with AT&T service, beware, they may just have an ax to grind. As far as I am concerned, service could not be better.

At TCC campus, Sprint and T-Mobile are a no-go. AT&T and Alltel are the only ones with strong service.

I have had great reception here with Cingluar (now AT&T) for many years. I get 5 bars all the way until about 2 miles from the Florida / Georgia border. It used to be that I had no reception at the Texaco just across the border, but now I get 2-3 bars and can make calls just fine. Inside my house Thomasville and Foxcroft Dr. I get 5 bars provided I am sitting at my desk near a window. At work, Thomasville and Metropolitan Blvd, I also get 5 bars. This is just south of I-10. Inside, 3-5 bars depending on where I am in the building and proximity to a window. People who are expecting 5 bars inside a building are just dreaming. The structures just block some of the signal.

Almost always have 4 / 5 bars indoors and have not experienced dropped calls. Static / garbled audio on calls only during intense lightning storms. LOVE it.

Usually 5 bars around my area. Love it.

Don't read other peoples Replies. This is the Truth. All cell phone carriers have good reception in Tallahassee, but the best is Cingular. Right now they are integrating the towers from ATT's old towers and making them all Cingular, during this 3 month span the network will not be at its best, once Integration is complete it will provide more capacity and more cell sites. Cingular is the best wireless service, hands Down.

Excellent reception throughout state of Florida.

Alltel is amazing. I had Sprint PCS when I first moved here 4 years ago and I can tell you to forget about using your phone on game day. With Alltel I can tell you that it is much better being able to get out most of the time on those Saturdays. On top of that my phone works in the library and in the mall two places that are hard to get out of.

Perfect on High ground, and good in buildings and lower areas. I think there are some towers attached to the taller FSU buildings.

3G coverage in Tallahassee has usually been pretty great. There's only one area in town I've been that sometimes drops calls, but even that has improved vastly. Both download and upload speeds were often in the 2-3Mbps until just recently; the last month or so the speed has plummeted, due to, as AT&T informed me, cell towers are coming down for upgrades around the city. It should improve greatly in the near future.

When I first bought Verizon I had trouble at home with reception. When I called to complain about the dropped calls, they were very responsive, giving credits and even sending an engineer to my house to measure signal and see if there was anything they could do. They provided a new phone, which helped. Within a year they built a new tower near southwood which fixed the problem completely. I travel all over the country and have found the coverage and reception excellent.

I have lived in this area for 2 years. I can say that I have had only few dropped calls in the time I been here. I get near perfect reception indoors... 4 or 5 bars out of 5 on the phone. I have only had a few dropped calls since I moved in this area. I think there is a Verizon site at the TV station by the engineering school. I have tried T-Mobile but the reception varies greatly inside on the phones I used (Nokia, Motorola), I have gotten anything from 0 bars / no service to 2 or 3 bars in my place and 4 or 5 outside. Calls usually garble in my apt. AT&T has full bars outside, but I only get 2 or 3 bars inside along with garbled calls indoors and outdoors.

Alltell does a fine job in and about Tallahassee.

I love Alltel. I have been with several carriers and they all suck compared to Alltel. My mother has been through several as well and seems to be always looking at her phone.. it's sprint... its always searching for service or roaming no matter where we go. I always have service. Of course there are a few small areas where reception sucks.. but what do you expect when you are driving through 100 miles of NOTHING. Nextel is the WORST! I have friends that NEVER answer their phones becuase.. guess what.. IT DOESNT RING! I would definitely recommend Alltel to anyone living in Flordia. My service has been awesome and the customer service is really good too. Just make sure you get it from an ACTUAL Alltel STORE and not an 'authorized dealer'. At the store they will replace it on the spot.. at the Auth Dealer you have some serious problems on your hands. Blue Skies...

I've had Nextel for past 5 years due to business that requires Nextel. Early years coverage was not good. Very spotty. At home I had several bars of signal but still reception was so poor even when I went outside and stood on my picnic table. Last 6 months it has changed all for the good. I travel from Jaxville to Pensacola and along the US 98 beaches road. Coverage has improved tons. I'm actually appreciating Nextel. Wife has T-Mobile and she has to use my phone on some trips across panhandle of FL.

Alltel has excellent coverage throughout Tallahassee except in certain "RF holes." where the other carriers are also nonexistent.
