We have had Cingular for 2yrs now, and they suck! We have all the problems everyone else complains about- dropped calls (those commercials make me sick!) no signal, late messages, phone not ringing, etc. I am currently looking for another carrier as well as another phone. This time I am trying to do my homework before I am stuck again. We have had a poor experience with Nextel, have friends who suffer with Sprint, so... We are considering Verizon.

I switched to Cingular a little over a month ago from Nextel. I heard good things about Cingular, all the commercials and etc. I was a former Cellular One, then At&T customer so I figured since I had GREAT service with them in the past. I figured Cingular with new technology and more towers would be GREAT also.... ... . Boy was I fooled, I get great signal 4-5 bars everywhere but fewer dropped calls... . I don't know who they compared them too, but I drop approximately 60-70% of calls, and the other 30-40% of the calls are garbled so bad that I wish they would just drop. Cingular customer support is not very impressive either I was basically told that my 30 day trial period was over and I was stuck with the service for the next 2 years which I found to be unacceptable customer service. I don't know if it's the phone or the service but it's terrible. I wish Cellular One was back again. I had their service from 1988 with the bag style phone, went to the brick phone, then to a Motorola flip phone. I never dropped a call... . ever, sometimes a short burst of static but that was all. I traveled all over the US, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Italy and never had a problem (Italy had limited coverage at that time in 1993) but I talked from Italy to the US and everyone I talked to thought I was calling from the Hotel on a landline. Does anyone know of a phone and provider that offers service in the US and Virgin Islands that doesn't have signal issues or dropped or garbled calls?

I have dropped Cingular and switched over to Sprint since they have a better rate for the plan that I wanted. With Cingular I used to gets "Missed Call" messages when the phone never rang or I would get an alert that I have a message. This alert would come through on a Tuesday for a message that someone left on the previous Friday.

I have had my service with AT&T and then Cingular for 3 or 4 years and the service has gotten terrible in the past 6 months. I'm considering changing to T-Mobile

I was with AT&T and never had a problem. If I wanted to get a new phone, I had to switch to Cingular they said. So on a promotion, I got a Motorola V220, signed a two year contract, and a month into it, I am totally disgusted. After charging up the phone, I get one bar after a few hours, weak signal, calls breaking up or dropped and reception garbled. I called customer service, they said it may be the phone, so I returned the one I had and they sent me a new one. Same problem so it is definitely the service. I find myself talking until I realize no one is on the other end because the call was dropped. This is a common occurrence. Customer Service gives the same run around - tower problems, towers being worked on, is the weather bad?, etc. I'm at the point now that I am considering just paying the penalty to get out of this contract and going to another company. In the long run it will be cheaper. Why this company is allowed to continue to do such shoddy business amazes me. HELLO MOTO - CINGULAR SUCKS!
