Can not get reception in the home or neighborhood. Very poor reception throughout the area drop calls frequently

Service levels have continued to decline. Many dropped calls or no service at all.

Reception is terrible and has gotten worse in the past few months. Even if I have 4 bars showing, as soon as I make a call, it'll go down to 1 or 2. And I have to retry dialing each call several times. Lots of dropped calls, too. I used to have to walk into the bathroom to be able to talk, but now that doesn't even work. I'm glad I'm not in a contract. I'm switching!

My wife hates her LG1300 - she has no signal in the house, my daughter has 2- Below Average and my v551 is 2 / 3 Average. If it were not for my rollover minutes I would change when the contract is up. I might get my wife a Verizon phone when the contract expires. I travel only once every 3 / 4 months but I use the phone for the entire time, and all me daughters friends have Cingular. Am trying to find out if a different model would work better. I do not want to spent $300 on a phone to find I need to buy another and another till I hit on the one that works. Every sales person tells me what they think will work, I know the LG1300 does not cut it, and v551 is Ok at best. Hope this helps someone.

With V3 I get about 3 bars indoors and 4-5 outdoors. Before when I had my V551 only would only get about 1 - 2 bars indoors. With the V3 I can even get 2 bars in the bathroom (I know TMI right... .LOL).

Cingular's reception in the Alpharetta / Roswell areas has steadily declined to the point I cannot even use the phone for any conversation past a minute or so before it drops. I have used two different phones, a Samsung and a Nokia, Cingular also tried to improve the coverage by enabling my phones to hop to other towers, but this did not help. It got so bad I finally bought my way out of the contract (had to even though Cingular admits they have coverage problems now that they did not have when I got my phone). I switched to T-Mobile and have not had a single drop in Alpharetta yet (RIM BlackBerry 7100t).

Occassionally get dropped calls or not the best reception, but generally pretty good throughout most of North Atlanta (mostly Alpharetta, Roswell, Duluth, and Suwanee). I use this as my only phone (got rid of land line) and don't regret it. If you don't travel outside Atlanta much, it's hard to beat Metro PCS - mobile and free long distance for less than BellSouth.

Poor signal in general on Nesbit Ferry Rd. Very poor on Abbottswell dr. Constant call drop. No bar.

Good general reception with only a few low spots which drop

Very poor reception at my home at 425 Mikasa Drive.

My phone switches in and out of roaming mode when I am in my home on Avian Dr. off of Morton Rd. (near intersection of Jones Br and State Br roads)

Apparently "just over the hill" from a tower - some spots in the neighborhood great but others no reception. Biggest problem is overbilling - our records indicate we never use all our minutes, but Sprint is charging us double time. With a 2-year contract, it's hard to jump to something else that may have even worse service and / or billing system.

Calls always drop at the river.

Dropped signal every single time I drive through here (didn't always drop when I had an 8700, but it does now with the 8900).

All carriers are bad in this area but T-Mobile is the worst and my 8900 is worse than my 8700 was. There are 2 complete dead spots between Webb Bridge Rd. and my house on Westchester Way that will drop calls every time you go through them. I get 2 bars max in my front yard. 1 in my house, upstairs. No signal downstairs or in my back yard. Verizon is the best in this area.
