Over the past 6 years Verizon has had TERRIBLE coverage in this area of town (Homewood Hills Shopping Center down to Jefferson River, etc.). Had them in 2005, called to complain about the terrible coverage (every call is dropped. literally.) they do their thing, send a guy out, the conclusion: there are towers nearby but something about the geography of the area prevents us from getting reception. They can't do anything to fix it, so they'll let us out of our contact penalty-free. So we do. Go with AT&T. It works just fine. Then, mid-2010 we decide we want Incredibles, so we go back to Verizon, thinking SURELY they've fixed the reception problem by now. NOPE! Same deal, and they will let us out of our contract at any time for free if we want, but it's just frustrating.

Have had Verizon here all year, works great all over the city of Athens with no dropped cars, 3G speed is excellent, even inside UGA's large buildings. Would highly recommend Verizon here.

Terrible reception, but I switched from Cingular several years ago because it was even worse (often no signal)! How can the smallest county in the state of Georgia and one of the most densely populated have such poor reception? Why should companies upgrade service when we buy their stuff regardless!
