I have Sprint / Nextel and my service is not good at all. We are near the East Lake Country Club. I also have problems at my work location in Marietta. Looking at the cell tower map on this site, there are no towers anywhere for a 4-8 mile radius. A tip for Sprint folks, some of the new plans don't charge for roaming now. I switched to digital roaming and my Sprint coverage actually got better? Go figure. It may also depend on your phone. I also have a small Samsung and I get pretty good bars on that phone, but my Treo gets maybe one or two at the most. Another interesting note, the Sprint customer service tech told me that since I have an out of state cell phone number, my service would be degraded?? What? I thought it was nationwide service. He said it is the way the call gets routed and the towers it looks for or something like that? I still thought something wasn't quite right, so I'm keeping my number as is and do the free roaming. For the rest of the city on 20, 75 and 285, I really don't have an issue with Sprint.
going on my 3rd year with MetroPCS. NEVER had a dropped calll all over the city. Always have reception. Its hands down the best service I've ever had in Atlanta, regardless of the perks (no contract, unlimited everything, etc.). Sadly, I have to change as I now travel to uncovered spots in the US, and the "Travel Talk" feature is not so reliable. If you dont travel much, or travel to other MetroPCS markets - I sincerely recommend considering these guys.
Voice calls are good. Usually get 3 bars anywhere in the house, with good quality and no dropped calls. EVDO is flaky - despite showing 2 EVDO bars (the A990 shows both 1x and EVDO strength), data sessions will sometimes be on (sl-oow) 1x. Overall, quite happy with Verizon performance throughout Atlanta.
Dead spot on Briarcliff Rd between Clairmont and N Shallowford. I get good signal in most places in town, but most of my dropped calls occur in this corridor.
Entire Breckenridge neighborhood is dead with T-Mobile. Since signing up with T-Mobile, there's more dead spots than Cingular (AT&T), Tracfone, Verizon and Sprint. As soon as my minutes run out, I'm switching carriers. T-Mobile is PITIFUL.
This is with Boost Mobile, which is, unequivicablly and undeniablly a division of Sprint / Nextel. Everytime I turn around, I get no signal and dropped calls, then when I have the phone off, I am charged for downloads that I never downloaded, or subscriptions that I did not authorize, then when I called customer service, I get... "That's your problem." It took an investigative report from Rhode Island to get my money back. My advise... . IF YOU DON'T NEED THE WEB ACCESS, STAY AWAY FROM BOOST MOBILE AT ALL COSTS!!
HORRIBLE! I can't get reception in my house. One minute I've got full bars, the next minute the call is dropped for lack of signal... AND I HAVEN'T MOVED AN INCH! I drive all over metro Atlanta and get the same results. OH, and good luck with customer no-service! STAY AWAY FROM SPRINT NEXTEL!
