AT&T is absolutely useless in Nashville. Regardless of type of phone (smartphone or just plain cellular), you struggle to get a signal. At my grandma's house, I often have to walk around the house and yard to get maybe a bar (two if I'm lucky) just for voice calls. Trying to get data is worse. Relatives that have good reception (including data) in Nashville (and nearby Alapaha) have Verizon or Sprint.

Thankfully, I use my cell for text messages. I get, on average, two bars. If I'm lucky, I might get three. When I leave Nashville, I have some areas where I can't get a signal AT all. However, once I arrive in Tifton or Valdosta I have excellent service.

An Alltel phone with a pull out antenna seems best for areas between Nashville and Valdosta but I still get dropped sometimes. Cellular providers do not make more money with better coverage, they only get fewer complaints.
