Two or three bars usually and I am on top floor of 13 story building. Data is a different story. I switched to 4G phone and the data service sucks. Would you believe mostly zero 24 / 7 at home here. Really frustrating. I wanna go to Iphone 4S. I bought one for my daughter at the same time I upgraded and she is very happy always. I am bummed. Four e-mail address' and Skype etc. and nothing works. Driving around Honolulu is not much better for data. on / off... on / off. What is up with that? Verizon says they will not allow me to give phone back. I have been complaining to them since day one. Live and learn.

In my house it is one bar, bordering on zero bars. I have to go outside to prevent calls from dropping. Outside I can get 2-3 bars; the signal drifts in and out. The signal strength and call quality are almost the same as T-Mobile, which I dropped after my 1 year contract ended.

Data is slow... about a minute to load a simple page. Works fine in other areas of town

Using a factory unlocked iPhone 4S running on T-Mobile. Usually 4-5 bars and no problems with voice calls from the Waipahu to Ala Moana area. Data is of course limited to EDGE which is ok for me since I only use email and limited web browsing.

Slow data speed most of the time, and some times drop call, it's getting worst everyday. They keep selling smartphones and most phones nowadays has data connection but their network is clogged up, they need to upgrade their tower, if you're in Waikiki area, your data speed is even slower than dial up service. Stay away from ATT is you use your data in this area.

I have excellent reception everywhere I go on Verizon Wireless. I also have great 3G internet coverage most of the time, pretty much anywhere on the island. I'm only writing this review because I switched to Mobi. Mobi sucks big time! I can't believe how often this company has internet outages. In this day and age, cell phone users use their phone MOSTLY for internet. Yes, I make calls and do text messaging, too. Text messaging is a FAIL too, sometimes. Even the guy who sold me the service told me MMS (multi-media messaging) wouldn't work on Mobi. He didn't tell me that even SMS (regular messaging) wouldn't work occasionally! These incidents happened in Kahala, Kaimuki and Hawaii Kai. In town, I haven't had any trouble. If this is my experience on a phone, imagine how bad their Hele broadband device is. I don't have to imagine. I met a solar panel salesman today who said it was the most worthless brick he has purchased and couldn't wait to switch to something better. I wish Verizon wasn't so expensive. But I will be going back. I've tried T-Mobile and that was even more frustrating then Mobi. There pretty much isn't anything else in Hawaii as consistently solid as Verizon. They are the gold standard.

I have never received a call that I didn't have to return myself because the reception here is absolutely horrible. AT&T is fully aware of the situation and offers no remedy. My phone and the second phone on this bill always drop calls and not just at home. I despise AT&T's reception and attitude. I'm switching to another evil and buying an Ooma for the home.

T-Mobile pretty much sucks in any building. I worked down at the Haseko Bldg on Mililani Mall and I had to stand near a window to get a bar. That was my Blackberry Curve 8320. Then I got a job at 841 Bishop St.and my phone wouldn't work in that building either. So I got a Nexus One when my contract was up and stayed with T-Mobile. Shouldn't have. T-Mobile has such a crappy reception in a building. I ask people who talk on their phones in my elevators who their carrier is and they all say AT&T. So I'm switching as soon as I feel comfortable enough to pay the penalty to get out of my T-Mobile AND Google plans.
