Two or three bars usually and I am on top floor of 13 story building. Data is a different story. I switched to 4G phone and the data service sucks. Would you believe mostly zero 24 / 7 at home here. Really frustrating. I wanna go to Iphone 4S. I bought one for my daughter at the same time I upgraded and she is very happy always. I am bummed. Four e-mail address' and Skype etc. and nothing works. Driving around Honolulu is not much better for data. on / off... on / off. What is up with that? Verizon says they will not allow me to give phone back. I have been complaining to them since day one. Live and learn.

Tons of dropped calls lately. Word from my rep is that Nextel gave up antennae sites and now overload of calls in coverage areas are dropping calls. Good news is you still get charged the minutes for redialing!

Reception is spotty on Prospect travelling all around Punchbowl Crater. It is especially bad when travelling along Prospect from Ward down to Piikoi calls get dropped about 50% of the time. Reception is poor from my home in the 200 block of Prospect, where I have to walk around the house in order to find a place to stand where people can hear me.

T-mobile service... terrible for my needs. Calls are always dropped when i'm driving down propect by Stevenson Intermediate School, driving up Punahou into Manoa and in my office downtown. I have a friend in Manoa valley who complained to T-Mobile about dropped calls from his home and was released from his contract because his address showed as a dead spot for T-Mobile reception. I'm forced to try Cingular or Verizon at this point.

Reception is good in residential areas, poor anywhere else. Unknown if it is the phone, or the service, but having a call loose reception when you're dialing 911 and talking to an emergency operator trying to report a car accident, or calling 911 to report that you just saw an elderly man collapse on the side of the road, is just plain bad. Both situations happened to me, right in downtown honolulu. If anywhere in the entire freakin state should have good service, downtown honolulu should be it. I want to be able to try a cell phone provider and phone before I make my final purchase decision. You can test drive a car before you buy it, and most retailers for almost any product will let you return it if you're unsatisfied. I wish cell phone providers would get with the program, and stop their collusion in trapping customers in long term service contracts, with phone and service combinations that they know are poor (for their particular geographic area).

In my house it is one bar, bordering on zero bars. I have to go outside to prevent calls from dropping. Outside I can get 2-3 bars; the signal drifts in and out. The signal strength and call quality are almost the same as T-Mobile, which I dropped after my 1 year contract ended.

Slow data speed most of the time, and some times drop call, it's getting worst everyday. They keep selling smartphones and most phones nowadays has data connection but their network is clogged up, they need to upgrade their tower, if you're in Waikiki area, your data speed is even slower than dial up service. Stay away from ATT is you use your data in this area.

I have never received a call that I didn't have to return myself because the reception here is absolutely horrible. AT&T is fully aware of the situation and offers no remedy. My phone and the second phone on this bill always drop calls and not just at home. I despise AT&T's reception and attitude. I'm switching to another evil and buying an Ooma for the home.
