iWireless, through tMobile, has service for GSM in Carroll, you can't get to far out of Carroll going East past the golf course and you'll lose service going West of Carroll by Gehling on highway 30. You'll pick up more service going towards Denison by the State Patrol Post.

Carroll is known for their exceptional Verizon and US Cellular service, but customers are constantly forgetting about Sprint. Even though Sprint's coverage area is almost non-existent to the West and to the North (true rural Iowa, let me tell you!) There is perfect coverage in town, then there is coverage from I-80 to Carroll on US 71 (a stretch of about 50 miles), from US 71 to County Rd.E17 (10 miles North of Carroll) and 7 miles East on US 30 (toward Glidden). I travel to Carroll a lot and I don't feel like paying Verizon and US Cellular's high prices when I can have an awesome Nationwide carrier for 30 dollars less! I know it's not 3G speeds like the other two, but I'm okay with that! I go to Ames and Des Moines enough to use the 3G data there. Being from Churdan, I like how Sprint has a 1xRTT agreement with US Cellular, so I can at least use it there... I love Sprint, but the second AT&T arrives with GSM coverage in Churdan, I will switch... because to be fair, I loved AT&T first and cancelled them because Carroll had Sprint coverage and not AT&T... now Nextel in Carroll is awesome! It has coverage in Churdan, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, AND Des Moines! But the phone selection was rather meager and the data speeds weren't as up to par with Sprint... but wait until Sprint converts the iDEN towers to CDMA in 2013... .
