I live in the NE part of cedar rapids (Hiawatha) and work downtown. It might be the buildings and it might be the reception but I get intermittent signals in the NE and throughout the day. During work hours it will work until noon and then completely disconnect from the network. I have clicked "don't ask again" for roaming options however it pops up every few minutes (haha). Wireless works 100% when I turn off the network. So, now that we've narrowed down the problem... I would say It's a good phone, nice people work at sprint, but here's the problem: Cell Towers. This is a problem, not only on sprint, but on multiple carriers in this area. It's also a problem with cable and internet companies. I feel that they need to prioritize their budget and do a census of their customers to garner some trust and know how much money they need. They could also use this data to find out where they need to put the towers etc.

Very weak 3G signal. Ping is 1000ms download is about 0-49kbps upload is 0-15kbps. Has been this way for months. Sprint submitted a "ticket" a month ago but nothing has changed.

This is actually about IWireless - I tried to use them for about 2 weeks. Had one of each of their modems die due to overheating, the 3'd modem lasted long enough it was still working when I canceled their service. Signal strength was decent where I was at for EDGE, but I never saw a whiff of ANY 3G signal from IWireless (I did see AT&T 3g signal but wasn't allowed to roam to it) despite their map showing my address being WELL within their "good coverage" area. Data rates were insanely low - I've seen better out of a 9600 baud DIALUP connection most of the time - and the LAG issues were insane most of the time. I learned taht Pings can last 20 MINUTES before they come back if you're patient enough - never saw 20 SECOND pings on any dialup connection I ever had. These people are absolutely THE WORST excuse for a so-called cell company I've ever heard of. The ONLY saving grace they have is that they WILL honor their 30 day moneyback guarentee if you complain about it enough - but don't expect your money back soon, expect it to take MONTHS to get it all back.

I have had a Virgin Mobile "Broadband to Go" plan since they introduced their original uncapped service. (Virgin used to be a virtual Telco / ISP running on the Sprint network, but Sprint bought out the US operations of Virgin Mobile about 2 years ago.) They were good in August and early September, but Sprint did a "tower software upgrade" in early September and service has been anywhere from poor to ABSOLUTE CRAP ever since. Haven't seen their claimed 400kbps MINIMUM data rate in months except on short RARE occasions in the wee hours of the morning, lots of linkdeaths while the modem stays happily connected, and the last couple days of Feb and ALL of March so far has been nothing but LD after LD after LD often 5-6 in an HOUR. Virgin "Tech Support" is a royal pain to get ahold of at all, but don't bother - they are CLUELESS, their reaction to my reported issues was to try to reconfigure MY modem, even though I had specically TOLD THEM that the modem was not the issue. Sprint Tech support said it is a "nationwide problem" with no estimate of when it will be fixed. Problem isn't with the signal - good signal, usually 2-3 bars out of the 4 that their software shows. Traceroute shows that the problem is that the TOWER IS LOSING IT'S CONNECTION TO THE REST OF THEIR NETWORK, not that my modem is losing connection to the tower. I also have the no-longer-offered Virgin "$20 for 90 days" plan, my CELL has also been seeing some occasional outage issues and some instances of ZERO signal from the tower but it's usally been working even when the Internet connection is down for hours at a time. Based on my experience, I'd say steer clear of Sprint or ANY of their brands (Boost is also a Virgin brand) PERIOD - and I'm looking for a better alternative VERY hard.

Signal varies in my house (1-3 bars 3G, 3-4 bars on Edge), but when I get outside and on the streets the signal jumps to 5 bars on 3G. Usually stays at full signal anywhere in Cedar Rapids.

EDGE coverage on lower level of house, 3G (UMTS) coverage on upper level of house. Signal varies from 1-5. Sometimes goes to emergency only coverage. Good service most of the time. High speeds for both EDGE and 3G. Good coverage throughout most of the city.

I have next to no reception at my home. It often take two or three attempts just to send a text message. Works better if I'm on the 2nd story of my house or outside, but 95% of the time it's "No Service" or one bar. However, it's been solid about everywhere else in town...

I switched to Sprint because my employer gave a discount for using Sprint as a plan. Since getting Sprint I have no service in my home. I drop calls constantly and roam within the Sprint PCS network. I have called customer service every month since obtaining the plan to have the roaming charges removed from my bill. I am told that I am to switch to Sprint coverage only which I have done, and which didn't change my service or my problem. I have received little assistance with customer service and have been told that they will charge me an early termination fee regardless of the fact that I have been calling with the same problem every month since day one. So buyer beware Sprint coverage and service really isn't worth getting.

I generally get only 2 to 3 bars no matter where I'm at, and most of the time worse. I actually called AT&T to complain, and my service actually got worse. Cingular used to give the best, clearest reception, but it's been down hill for the last 3 years or more. Bye, bye, AT&T.
