Coverage is provided through T-Mobile's partner I-Wireless (who also offers service in the area). Like most T-Mobile service, the initial connection may sometimes take a few seconds; getting unlimited "My Faves" minutes is paid for at the cost of being at the bottom of the satellite's priority list for carriers. Quality and reliability are good; however, be aware that because of the bluffs and hilly nature of Dubuque, there are several "dead zones" in the city, and this is true of many cell providers. If your provider doesn't have a service guarantee that allows you to get out of the contract if service isn't available, be sure that the service works at the locations you use (i.e. phone, work, etc.) before signing a contract.

Get 2-4 bars on JFK until you either get to NW Arterial or Dodge St. JFK is a major business road and the reception sucks there. Everywhere else in town it's GREAT tho.

Cingular has great reception as long as you are in town. Once you get out to Asbury it is gone. Stay on the roads and you should be fine. In the places where I have a hard time getting reception with my Razor, my old Nokia works just fine... .????? An expensive phone VS a cheap piece of plastic. Why the cheap one works better I do not know. Also, I have problems with the internet on my phone. Usually won't even start up.

Coverage downtown is great, but I now get nothing in my home. When I first switched to Cingular I could make and receive calls from within my house. Now I must be outside on the South side and even then the reception is poor. Cingular says they have made no changes. It is easy to say they have the fewest dropped calls whne you can't even start one with their service. I guess I will have to eat the $350 early termination fee and I find someone new.

I used to have Cingular. They are excellent in Dubuque, although there are a couple of places where it fades. But you have to stay on Hwy. 20 (West) to get any reception. You leave town and it's gone!

I have been very happy with Verizon. Their customer service is impeccable (although they're only open until 11pm now). Reception is very good around town, but I have a lot of dropped calls! Also, it doesn't let me send text messages half the time, even when my reception has full bars! I'm switching to Cingular.

I have also had no reception problems with US Cellular, anywhere in Dubuque, except in the bowels of some large buildings.

US Cellular has unbelievable reception around Dubuque and the surrounding area. I have yet to find an area where I have no reception.

US Cellular rocks in the Dubuque Area and anywhere around, I travel in the country a lot and I have never lost range once. Great service provider.
