No problems with my Verizon service anywhere in or around Ottumwa, I actually had service at the high school in the "inside" classrooms, where many people with other carriers (even UsCellular) did not.

I have Alltel and the coverage is very good here. It seems like it's always on 4 or 5 bars (out of 5) just driving around and it still does good inside. Nowhere I can't make or receive a call. Just for a couple spots of interest, around the high school is covered well, full signal. No problems on highway 63. Just good signal throughout area. If any provider does any better I'd be surprised because I don't know of any when I compare signals and places with friends while we're out.

Sprint cannot be trusted on the edges of Ottumwa. When you leave town you will loose coverage alltogether.

Most of the north side of Ottumwa only has 2-3 bars outside that dips down to 0-1 inside buildings.

I have an iphone 3g that I unlocked so I can use it on Tmobile. In a larger metro area city, I get great reception but out in Ottumwa, IA, I get 1 or 2 bars if out side and dropped calls. Inside I cannot get any reception at all. Ened up switching to more expensive Verizon here, but at least I can now use my cell phone. Unfornetly I cannot use Verizon with my Iphone 3g.

As a former Alltel customer now forced into Verizon's tower service, I am unhappy. South of town is now a roaming area because some rocket scientist at Verizon decided they didn't need the joint tower agreement with US Cellular that Alltel had in place. Loved the prepaid rates of Alltel, now looking at alternatives that are all more expensive.
