Highland Springs Apartments has been surprisingly unkind to Virginmobile and to Cingular. I returned the Cingular Go phone with no further experiments after it was poor from my apartment. The T-Mobile To Go has worked very well in the spot where those others failed. In the challenging VA Hospital Lab it will work reliably and clearly a few feet from the window--same spot where the Virginmobile barely connected with broken outgoing. Deeper in the Lab it fails like most. In most locations in Boise signal is very good. T-mobile's scenario of guys on a camping trip to make the point of "no roaming charges" may be misleading. There is no roaming, and north of Eagle the signal disappears.

Signal is always strong, but I still have to find the right place in the house to talk. One wrong move, and the call is dropped.

Reception is pretty good except outlying areas like north Eagle. I have been somewhat satisfied with T-Mobile and the plans pricing is great but my phone(or carrier) has the most annoying habit of not vibrating when I get a call and not notifying me for 15 minutes after. Makes me want to switch carriers but nothing else seems like a better value. Very few dropped calls, "network busy" error comes up every 1 / 25 calls or so

I rarely get 5 bars in this area - normally 2-3. I live right outside the cell tower across from Idaho Parks and Lands. I was told that is the problem. I may be in the wonder if its the 2 Eagles (?) who have a huge nest on top of the tower itself is the real reason?? What a dilemma that is. Do not now who to contact re the cell tower itself to check that dilemma out. My Verizon usually blocks out words of callers and I go outside, where it is a bit better. I lose coverage at Discovery Park immediately going up Hwy. 21. I have a new upgrade phone (Motorola V-815) which I was told by 2 stores that is the best for reception this part of Boise (?).

In many locations in Boise and Eagle signal strength was very good. Surprisingly poor inside my apartment building and just outside it. Strength improves a lot half a block away. Like most mobile phones, it doesn't work in most of VA Hospital Laboratory. Near the window it works barely, and outgoing signal is broken up there. Although my overall impression of Virginmobile is favorable, I have switched to T-Mobile to Go for better signal in these two key spots. There is no roaming. North of Eagle service disappears. Southeast past Diversion Dam it disappears.

I'm between two towers for AT&T (Cingular) and my signal bounces back and forth between them. I end up with poor reception and constantly have dropped calls. They deny it and tell me I have great coverage (according to their maps), and that I should just turn off my phone everyday to get the updates. When they tell you this it is pure garbage and they are just stalling you. When I talked to a local company that specializes in repeaters they gave me the real story right off the bat and put me in contact with somebody who could really help.

My first cell phones (we have two). My wife's seems marginally better than mine. The microphones pick up any and all environmental noise and amplify it to a screech, making it a chore to talk very long. My next one will be a flip phone for this reason. Reception inside any building sucks eggs. Sometimes I'll see 5 bars for a second, but then it's back down to two. If I don't get three bars, I don't bother trying to make a call, it'll be dropped. Will absolutely drop all calls if I enter a grocery store or other large building while talking. The last time I had a conversation with my out-of-state Grandfather before he died, we could barely hear each other... I pulled over and shut off the ignition, which helped, but talk about frustrating! I sincerely hope a better service exists, but after browsing this website I see there's no clear winner.

Every since AT&T Wireless was taken over by Cingular, the reception in this area has been poor. Make a compliant to the FCC. I did and Cingular gave me a 10% discount over my current montly fee.
