Overall the service is good. I've had this phone for years in several locations around W. Boise. It seems I go through periods of low signal then months of great signal. I noticed the same drop in service around Aug 05 that several other people noted here. My wife has Sprint and she says her phone gets more dropped calls than mine. Also, her service area seems smaller when we travel.
I switched to T-Mobile last November from AT&T. Around the first two weeks of January my problems started. Since then, for the last 9 months I drop calls constantly within the first 1 to 2 minutes, text messaging in intermittent (sending), I have a hard time hearing others and others have a hard time hearing me due to voice cutting in and out, echo, or muffled unclear sound. I have been through 5 phones, I really don't think it's the phone, 3 different models (a borrowed old Nokia phone worked best, although still not that good). I've been told they're upgrading the towers in the area for 8 months and today when I called because I had NO signal anywhere at home last night I'm told they found a problem with a tower in my area and have been working on it since the 30th of Aug. Today is Sept. 9. The people I've called with my support issues have all been great, friendly although nothing has been resolved. I understand they're limited on what they can do. I have been credited on my bill once in the last 9 months. Gee, thanks. My best friend has been with them for 5 years and after the first of the year she has had the same problems I've had, although on a lesser scale. Maybe things will get better once the 'upgrade' is complete, who knows? I've had enough and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to hold out for the last 2 1 / 2 months of my contract. I do not recommend them to anyone.
T-mobile has horrible service, drops calls all the time or when you are trying to make a call, it will not connect to the network, when going out of town on trips, their service is horrible, and the phone will not connect to other networks for roaming, even though I am supposed to have roaming with my contract, If you deal with customer service, trying to get a hold of a live person is a joke, their automated answering service is pathetic. over all I would say their service is extremely poor, and expensive, when my contract is up in July I plan on getting another carrier, since I have 2 phones with them, it would be around $400 to cancel early so I am waiting until my contract is up, otherwise I would have cancelled already, their network in Boise has gone down at least 5 times that I know of this year.
Phone drops calls, or the call becomes garbled. This part of town seem to be a dead zone. T-Mobile sevice is also poor out of town. On a trip to Spokane from Boise, there is little or no service. Also poor service in McCall. This is a roaming area, but it still will not pick up signal very well. I used to have a AT&T phone that worked great up there.
