I have an update from the past review that I've posted for Verizon service. It was amazing to see them go from not having a network in the area and being sub par to Ok, to great when the finally put in their network in this area. BUT, now I have to say the suck as bad as they used to when they didn't have a network here. I called and told tech support that they signal has not been as good as it has for the last couple of months now. They supposedly sent out a field tech. to determine if there was a problem with the system in the area. I receive a call back and was told that everything was fine and that the area I was in, was terrain related. Which is causing my poor signal. I told them that it was fine before up until a couple of months ago. I told them that my house didn't move and that it couldn't be that. It's not even in my house, it's been like this all over the area of Pullman and Moscow, so it is indeed something wrong with the system or they have done something to lower the overall signal output. I used to have any where from 2-3 bars minimum on a 4 bar signal phone, but now I only have no bars to may be 1 on occasion in my house. That's pretty bad. I have spoke with tech support on 3 different occasions and have even upgraded my phone to see if that would make a difference and it has not improved a thing. I've pretty much been a loyal customer of Verizon for a very long time and now am forced to say good bye to them, as it does me no good to have service that I can't use. I'll be switching to AT&T here very shortly and would only use them as I would not even attempt to use Sprint, as they use the same CDMA system as Verizon. I would have no signal at my house with them as well. There are no other alternatives in this area, so it will have to be AT&T. Also, I have tried a test phone at my house from AT&T. This phone was a low end basic phone that was not even close to their best phones they have to offer, and I was able to get 4-5 bars on a 5 bar signal phone inside my house. Now, that's far cry from the lame 0-1 bar I get on occasion with Verizon at my house. SORRY VERIZON, BUT YOU HAVE LEFT ME IN THE DARK AND HAVE GIVEN ME NO CHOICE. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? GUESS NOT, AS I'VE TRIED TO INFORM YOU PEOPLE OF THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM. AND THEY SAY YOUR PROBLEM BECOMES THEIR PROBLEM. THAT'S PLAIN BULL. THANKS VERIZON FOR NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM.
good reception every where else in moscow except the place that I use it most which is in my house. I was told to try going outsite, but I would rather talk on the phone in my house, call me crazy. I am also in remote areas alot in the summer and have never had reception when I left large city areas. Friends that had Verizon however would be able to find service in random areas. I am thinking about switching to T-Mobile when my contract is up but I am worried that they are going to have the same in house problem
Cingular rocks in Moscow. I've NEVER have trouble in 2 years. There is one dead spot between Moscow and Pullman but anywhere in Moscow, even in the depths of the thickest university building, I can hear you now.
Can't believe it, Verizon finally has their network up in this area and it is by far the best for signal strength coverage. My phone reads 6 bars as the maximum strength and for the most part that's what it is everywhere that I've been. With the other carrier that Verizon leased from, the signal strength never hit 6 bars period. At my home, I have at least 2-3 bars on average for signal strength with Verizon now, whereas with the other carrier that Verizon leased from, I could only get 1 to 2 bars and sometimes no bars of signal strength. I would constantly drop calls at my home with the other carrier that Verizon leased from, but not anymore. I'm smiling pretty, since I have one of the best if not best services available and I won't have to consider changing carriers now. I'm glad I stuck it out and waited for them to establish a network here.
Verizon is a very good service provider, too bad they haven't updated the area I live in yet. I'm still waiting for that to happen. What amazes me is that, they went ahead and provided home service for an area south of where I live before hand. Maybe due to demand or just plain population reasons. Whatever the case maybe, there are 2 major universities in this area that bring a lot of people from the bigger areas that have Verizon service. These people come in hoping to have service and features that work only to find out that they have no features available to them. I've been a Verizon customer for over 5 years now and have hoped for this to happen, but now I'm considering making the switch to one of their major competitors because of it. Too bad they haven't come to agreement with the local providers to pass what they need to pass to meet the FCC regulation requirements and stipulations. It obviously takes more than a loyal customer to have them do something about. The reps at the stores that I've talked to can't believe they made that kind of move as well. Too bad they're using Sprint towers to bounce off of in this area, it's giving them a bad reputation, because Sprints' service is horrible in general. I've used that service on different occassions and have not enjoyed it once. That's the reason why I have rated the reception less than perfect, no fault on Verizon's by any means, but is in the fact that they haven't stepped up to the plate to take care of the problem instead of prolonging it. What a way to get bad customer feedback, from a part of the service that's not even provided by them From a customer's standpoint they don't know the difference except for the fact that they think they're getting Verizon service, when in fact they aren't in this area.
This was a loaner phone from my work and I was surprised as to how well the service was in my area. Not only that, it was able to provide service in some areas where it was sketching with other service providers. I could actually use this phone and service in my basement, whereas with my existing phone and service provider as well as other people that have come to my home with other service providers have had problems with calling and receiving in my basement. I'm thinking about making the switch just for this very reason as well as the rollover minute plan that they offer.
