Coverage here and there. The Lake shore is covered by a low tower that is shrouded by the surrounding mountians that are 2-3 Thousand feet above it. Still can't figure that one out, perhaps they're to lazy to climb a mountian, or unable to grasp remote power systems. Probably the latter based on my attempts to get technical answers from them. The areas away from the lake are spotty at best, you need some elevation if you hope to connect. That said, ATT / Cingular is even worse, and leave any other brands at home. I have to go outside to use my phone at work, although it will ring inside. One bar at my home if I hook up an external anntenna on the second floor deck. Parts of Hwy. 57 have good coverage but dropouts are common around the 15 and 7 mile markers.

Even with a 30+ foot high 11 dB Yagi and a bidirectional amp, coverage is occasional at best. Usually 1 to 2 bars if you get them at all. It seems that signal quality has gone down over time. Most of the time you need to drive out to the highway to make calls. Very dissapointing. Verison seems to be spotty with the same equiptment. A bare phone will never get a signal, in spite of a pretty open shot to the tower that services the high-dollar lakeshore residents from a tower barely above the 2438 foot lake. The mountians here go to 5,000 to 6000 feet, so you can imagine the lack of thought that went into siting the tower.
