I get a decent signal near I-64 (3 miles south), in New Baden (4 miles west), or in Aviston (5 miles north), but the signal strength in Albers is weak outside, and worse / poor inside the house. My wife hooks up ear phones / mic and puts her iPhone in the charge to have a clear conversation. I can occasionally receive a ring in the basement, and then if folks don't hang up, I can run upstairs and stand by the window to talk without too much static. Apparently, Albers is just far away enough from everywhere that the carriers are concerned with to put us in a spot where we have to suck it up and hope for the best signal from one of the other locations mentioned above. Seems to me like there should be a huge service plan discount for dead zone locations (and a bigger discount for no 3G)!
