I work for sprint, most customers experiencing issues with reception on their phone more than likely do not update their phone regularly. Most phones have the option under settings and or tools to update the data profile, update the firmware, and update the PRL. All of these updates are important in making sure your phone stays up to technological par. This is why they provide updates. Not always the garunteed fix but can definately improve performance.

I've purchased a Palm Pre from Sprint, but could not complete the activation process because the phone went to roaming and I needed connection to the Sprint network to set my profile. I tried both inside and outside my home, without success. Now I shall have to fight Sprint to cancel the transaction and return the phone.

Sprint Reception is great if you have a Sanyo phone. I don't know why they work so well and others don't. My wife and I have had them for over two years and after the Nextel-Sprint merger the few dead spots we had noticed in some big stores (like Schnucks) improved greatly. However, while my Sanyo had survived numerous drops it apparently wasn't waterproof. I recently picked up a Blackberry 7130e which is great for email, but is a poor phone. I think the email is on the blackberry network, while the phone service relies on Sprint's. Several complaints of calls breaking up with the Blackberry in areas where my Sanyo always worked well.

I don't know what everybody else on here is talking about, but my phone receives great reception all across Champaign-Urbana. The only time I have even the slightest difficulty is in our local Wal-Mart, which that is the norm from what I hear from others, and in rural areas away from the interstates, which that is what is dictated on Sprint's service coverage map. Perhaps it is due to Sanyo's greatness, but I absolutely love using my Sprint phone.

Little to no reception. Dropped calls are the rule.

Sprint just plain sucks, at least with this phone. I finally just canceled the contract - 1.6 out of 2 years with this crap was enough. Reception was spotty, dropped calls even when the bars showed full signal. Forget about trying to use it while traveling - no reception while traveling from St. Louis to California along major highways. No reception up the Pacific coast until we got to Portland. No reception along I80 all the way from Portland to Somewhere in Iowa, then spotty reception back home to Champaign. Not a good phone to take on tour or vacation, unless you only need the PDA portion of the phone (making it a PDA, not a phone). As for Sprint's "web" service - sucks sucks sucks. Has NEVER worked right. Same with customer support / customer service (there was virtually NONE).
