I moved here from Florida a month ago. I had great reception with my iphone in Florida. However in Chicago the AT&T reception is horrible. half the call that come through are dropped and much of the time I have no service. I have 5 months left on my contract but I can't tolerate such bad service. T-Mobil here I come.

"Call Failed" is a regular occurrence, followed by 10 minutes of a useless 5 Bars of 3G. This service is a joke. T-Mobile here I come.

Moved from SF Bay Area to downtown Chicago, IL, in the Printer's Row / South Loop area. Still have an old, original 2G iPhone. I'm ten-floors up with massive amounts of skyline visible and my AT&T Edge service is horrible. Not sure if it's all the buildings around, but basically my iPhone will lose service constantly up in my apartment so I miss calls regularly. Interestingly enough, once I'm talking, it's actually fine. Out and about on street level, even in the Loop, it's passable, but inside a store, bar, or restaurant, I might as well give up -- no penetration at all. Seriously thinking about switching providers, and I've never felt it necessary before to do that.

AT&T is horrific in Chicago. In the middle of Lincoln Park I can barely get a signal walking down the street. It's close to hopeless inside an apt or house. And forget data usage.

My AT&T service is spotty at best. My iPhone 3G is primarily on EDGE and I'm in the business district of Chicago. The service is unuseable during busy hours like early rush, NOON and pm rush. AT&T is useless in Chicago. I'd highly recommend Sprint or TMobile in the Windy City.

My calls are constantly dropped. I moved to Chicago from Indiana recently. In Indiana, my reception was great. Now, my calls always end early or "can you hear me?" I'm switching as soon as my contract is up.

I can text all day (unless there are major delays) but calls regularly get dropped and it's the 'can you hear me now?' conversation every other minute even if the call doesn't drop. For reference, I live at Addison just west of the 90. I consider the poor service AT&T has been having lately to be a breach of contract. I'm paying for a service. That service isn't being provided to me. I either get a discount for the days I report bad service (even Comcast does that!) or I get to leave my contract any time without an ETF. Even when AT&T was still advertising with their 'fewest dropped calls' campaign, the calls might not drop but they would degrade so badly you couldn't even hold a conversation without hanging up and recalling the person.

I typically have 5 bars, however, I usually experience 1-2 drops during even the shortest phone conversation. I switched from T-Mobile a couple years back and I rather look on T-Mobile fondly these days. Once my ATT contract is over, I'm jumping ship.

I get two bars near the window of my condo facing the lake, and no bars as I venture 12 feet away from the window. I wish I could use my phone. Definitely thinking of switching to Verizon.

Dropped calls. Incoming calls go straight to voicemail and never ring. Cannot use data services unless pressed against my window. AT&T reps tell me straight out that the tower situation in my area is horrible, but the company does nothing about it. "Upgrades" and "new towers" have supposedly been in the works for over a year, but nothing has changed. I'm trying to figure out how to make the switch back to Verizon (which was great) without breaking the bank on broken contract fees, etc. I can't understand why I should have to pay for AT&T's refusal to invest in their network.
