T-mobile has outstanding coverage! I can remember 2 times throughout the entire 5 years I have been with them where I have had a dropped call.

I wanted an iPhone so I switched from my Verizon RAZR to ATT. iPhone is awesome and works great EXCEPT in my highrise condo! Unless I stand right near the window it drops calls and is full of static. ATT has tried to help by dowloading software but it hasnt helped

Its unbelievable how poor AT&T's reception is in this area of Streeterville. Considering the amount of residential buildings in this neighborhood, its proximity to the Apple store on Michigan avenue, and the fact that we are in downtown Chicago - its horrible at best. Often in my apartment building I will get 1 small bar to no service whatsoever. Even with the 3G service, there has been no improvement whatsoever. AT&T needs to install an additional cell phone tower in this area ASAP - its an embarresment to the company to have such a gap in a major metropolitan area.

I get horrible reception in my house. My calls always get dropped, or there is too much break up.

Reception is intermittent throughout this zip code and loop. Much of the conversation consists of requests to repeat. This is significantly worse than former services I've subscribed to.

I live in Printer's Row on the 26th floor, in an East facing unit. I have to have my face pressed up against the glass to get one bar. It will still drop out every 10 mintues. Anywhere else in the unit and nothing. There are no buildings in the immediate vicinity.

I concur with the rest of the Sprint reviews, not so good. I lived in DC for a while where the reception was great, probably having to do with the fact they're headquartered in Northern Virginia. Anyway, I'll probably be switching in a few months as my 2 year expires, to a TMobile Android hopefully.

Terrible reception in this area. I can go from zero to one bar anywhere in my home. It usually roams on Sprint's network. After doing a little polling of friends to see what service they have; it appears that all other providers have excellent reception in the area. I am looking into AT&T but will miss the free incoming on U.S. Cellular. I also noticed a common practice amongst US Cellular and others that their stores are locating in close proximity of their towers. Nice way to market their service.

I can't get a consistant singal EVER. "Huh?" "Can you repeat that?" "I can't hear you!" and "I'm gonna throw this f-ing thing off my balcony!" are about the only things I'm saying while trying to talk on my phone.

Alltel doesn't offer local numbers in Chicago yet, but I kept them because their plan features are very competetive and I've been a happy customer for more than 5 years. Punching in *228 yields a "Welcome to Verizon Wireless" greeting, indicating that I'm using Verizon towers. Because I have a national plan, however, I never get any roaming charges. My phone is a tri-mode and gets reception pretty much anywhere you would expect it. For example, I have perfect reception in my high rise building and in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but will drop calls in the elevators of either building. I lose calls in the El and in some of the bigger malls / department stores (the Nordstrom downtown and Target in Lincoln park come to mind). I hope that Alltel eventually gets rights to local numbers here because I've been very happy with them. For people that have been unhappy with Verizon service, I would recommend taking a look at your phone. Make sure it receives at least two digital frequencies---but three are even better (e.g. two digital / 1 analog mode)!

I have had US Cellular since 2005 and the reception was great up until I upgraded my phone. My phone was apparently knocked off a tower after US Cellular had mistakingly gave my number to another person, but thats a different story. I now roam when I am near my house and I get little to no reception when I am in my home. I am hoping its more of the phone then the carrier.

Almost always works. Rarely drops calls, or mishandles incoming calls. Not bad, but expensive.

When I moved here (2002) had Verizon (did not work indoors) switched to Cingular (much better - could actually use the phone in my 2 flat). After Cingular / AT&T merger, phone worked fine for awhile - now NO reception inside or outside. (Remember how AT&T used to gouge land line users? They're baaaack!) Still hate AT&T.

LG gets poor reception, razor (old phone) had better reception, but the signal has definitely diminished significantly since over the past few weeks. What is AT&T doing? When Cingular, everything was fine -- now nothing. What gives?? (Oh yeah, that's right -- your CUSTOMERS!) What are we paying for? Dropped CALLS!

I use this phone on my job's dime on AT&T. Useless when I'm home. Luckily my main phone is on T-Mobile which works perfectly. Too bad, I'd like to get an iphone.
