Nextel
The reception is present most of the time but is nothing to write home about. Even though dropped calls are rare, there are many occassions when the reception is bad enough that you cannot hear the person you are talking to. The worst part about Nextel is their billings department. In my year with them I was overcharged 4-5 times by over $100! Even though I called and yelled at them each time, they still kept overcharging me. Needless to say, I am dropping them asap.

The actual celll phone itself has as much to do with call quality as the provider one is using. Siemens makes the best phones on the market. Their reception is in a league of it's own. The Siemens S46 is both TDMA and GSM. It is set to automatically work on GSM but switches to TDMA when a GSM signal is not available. This phone is the best on the market. Try to pick one up if you want to do what cell phones were meant to do, communicate clearly and reliably.

It disgusts me that when I try to use my phone I get so many dropped calls. But the real problem is that right outside my classroom window, my calls are either dropped or I get very bad reception. I am stuck with this bad phone for another year and a half. I have switched models of the phones and still I get the same problem.

Reception out west is good... the further you go from the city the worse it gets... I could suggest Verizon though because of their Customer Service and the fact that I get better reception that other people I know with different services.

Terrible reception -- phone will show seven bars, then as soon as I dial out, AT&T switches me to a weaker network and the call drops -- as soon as the call has dropped, though, the signal goes back up to six or seven from one or two. Tech representatives get snotty and suggest I send the phone back to Nokia, but the phone worked fine elsewhere.

There's no reception on my block, even outside. However, if I walk to the end of the block to Western I get three bars.

I've received poor to zero reception eveywhere I've tried within a 1-block radius of this intersection. At a former employer there, when customers complained about poor cellular reception, their carrier was always Sprint.
