Sprint has very spotty reception in galesburg and basicly does not work at all in surrounding towns

Regarding the recent posts below, I called AT&T this morning and there is a service outage. Rep said it's due to congestion. (I'm guessing the congestion could be related to Knox College students moving in.) AT&T is working on their tower and hope that service will be restored today (Sat, Sept 3, 2011).

I want to agree with the previous post. Dropping son off at College yesterday. All three iPhone had no signal most of the day in most of Galesburg. Occasionally a bar or two would appear but only for 5-10 minutes but gone for an hour or two in between.

We arrived from Chicago to Galesburg today. We had AT&T coverage all the way, including a spot at the entrance to Galesburg. Then the connection just... disappeared. Absolutely nothing, zero signal. We have 4 different cell phones in the family and all of them went dead. Other visitors we met confirmed they have no AT&T signal too. I thought it may be just a serious outage, but there is no information about any reception problems in the area on AT&T site. What worries me even more are comments from locals, who say that this is how it is: AT&T coverage is extremely spotty and unreliable. Their advise is to go with Verizon. (I'm submitting this comment via wi-fi, since my phone still doesn't work.)

cuts out in my apartment at Bridlecreek and i'm on the top floor. Verizon is definately better in Galesburg than Sprint is.

I've been with US Cellular for years now and their signal strength is always excellent whenever I'm in Galesburg.

Dropped a ton of calls. Downtown the reception was so poor had to end calls. Couldn't hear a thing. Verizon is useless to me when I'm in Galesburg.

Fast 3G, reliable service. No problems with signal, etc!

I recently purchased an iPhone and was told that AT&T had three towers in the Galesburg area. I find coverage to be very spotty and it can move from full power to no connection within a few feet. In my home connection strength can vary significantly even while sitting in the same chair. I plan to keep my AT&T service plan until iPhones are able to use other carriers. If AT&T reception improves I'll stay with them. AT&T staff have been very kind and supportive but they can't provide any information regarding future reception issues in our area.

I travel into most of the smaller towns around galesburg as well and I love my phone the reception on it is great so is the battery life. Cellular Plus loc in the sandburg mall also gave me a free car charger and a great package on the accessories for my phone.

Great signal with t-mobile. Works very well in the city of galesburg. No edge service. Just gprs. I can roam on Simmetry PCS in galesburg and can use their edge service.

my phone was working fine, and all of a sudden it died, and the front window says "entering service area" and when I open it up it just says powering off. and it wont go off. I dont understand this.how can I fix this problem?
