For starters, I JUST signed my contract a week and half ago. Got my phone and noticed I had little to NO service in West Kankakee area, where I live and would use the phone the most. The farther north I went into Bradley, Bourbonnais, 4G kept going on and off and bars would go from 3 to none constantly. Asked Sprint Customer Support about it and they all said they have issues with connection and data speeds (4G was DEFINITELY not 4G, not even DSL speeds). They came out and said all in all they have issues in this location (the Sprint store on 45 / 52 near Dunkin Donuts in Bourbonnais) Would not recommend Sprint to anyone... .

I have been with Verizon since 2006 and have had no issues what-so-ever with them. My reception is pretty good majority of the time. Even in my basement I get great service on my phone. Have never had any dropped calls that I can recall in the past 6 years. I was thinking about switching to Sprint but seen they have the WORST service ever. I got a contract with them and lets just say I sent the phone back and cancelled my contract (before my 14 days were up) within 4 days. I am staying with Verizon, even though they have the $30 data plan. It will be much better in the long-run.

They added some towers and we now have 3g here. Reception on the river east of I57 can be iffey and once past Aroma Park is almost non-existant. In town it works great, I work in west Kankakee and get 5 bars in a building in west Kankakee.

Verizon used to be terrible here until about a year ago when I guess they put up a new tower. Now its near perfect reception anywhere around here.

I had to put a cell repeater on my house so I could get calls inside. Outside of Riverview is good. We are on the Edge Network here, if u go to Manteno they have 3G, not in Kankakee??? We do have a cell tower nearby for AT&T and I was told that our lack of signal is because we live in the bottom of a valley and they don't redirect the signal down, so it's there it's just going over the top of us????? Last phone was Nextel and signal was great

I am in business for myself and rarely does it work inside my home. I have to go outside and then it is still weak and I drop calls frequently. I definitely can't drop my landline account.

Very little or no reception 95% of the time. Canceling my service with them and going with Sprint / Nextel. There are 2 of the towers fairly close to my home. Verizon gave me the run-around for the past 5 months, saying 1st it was the phone. Then said it was the software. And finally saying it was the location. Said I lived to close to the river and too many trees. But the funny thing is all other cell services that my friends have work just fine where I live. Seems that Verizon, which claims to be the best and back their service, is just a gimick. So those of you seeking new phone service living in the Kankakee area.. I wouldn't go with Verizon. CAN YA HEAR ME NOW ???? NO! I CANT!

Little or no reception. Voice calls not an option, some messages make it thru

I don't get reception in my house, and neither does anyone else on my block. In order to talk to someone you have to walk out to the street. It's pretty sad. My phone dies every other day because it has to search so hard for a signal. I would not recommend Verizon in Kankakee unless you're living near the interstate.
