Stay away from Lombard if you have Verizon... doesn't work at all, even downtown by the train station!

Much better than Verizon. I can be almost in any part of the house and get decent reception.

Nextel seems to get great reception everywhere else except for around here. Many dropped calls inside and outside of house. Flashing green light on phone sometimes even turns solid red and the phone will say "NO SERVICE". It sometimes stays this way for 30 seconds or longer. Have called Nextel at least 4 times about the problem but to no avale what so ever. With the amount of fade out and in of everyphone call I make it's ridiculous.

Verizon Wireless is pathetic! False advertising on their part. I have 2 separate Verizon phones and they both barely operate within the city of Lombard. Hey Verizon, do you hear me now: You Suck. Ya lying jerks!

We moved from downtown where we had great reception with Verizon - nothing but praise for their service. Now, 1 of our 2 phones gets a bar or two around Lombard and sometimes in our house, while the other phone almost never does - it gets no reception.

No reception is perfect however in my travels it's done the job. My travels take me from the western burbs, north to NW burbs, east to north Chicago, and west to Rockford via 90 without failure of signal. Back in the day there was signal issue along 53 however that was fixed a year ago. I will admit the only time I've ever seen no service on the phone is in one corner (which appears to be a vortex for Verizon and Cingular as well) of a brick building in the NW burbs. With Nextel you do need to reboot your phone. I really like the razrs and bluetooth and I could save $22 a month going to Verizon however I've spoken with a few individuals that had some recent reception issues in my travels. I'm one of those cell geeks that does the hofo, modding, etc. so I'm not shy to ask a co-worker or friend about their cell service. BTW - motos are the easiest to customize.

Overpriced! Terrible reception! The reception in my basement and house would be on 4 bars and then as soon as you make a call, it would drop to 1 and then most of the time drop your call. I was so fed up, switched to U.S. Cellular and never had a problem since, even in the basement. I heard Sprint is better with their service reception but it is a completely different network then Nextel so it doesn't matter. Stay Away!

Cannot use this phone throughout most of lombard, thought the problem might have been the phone model itself but Verizon will not take back their phone and exchange it with another. poor customer service and you will go nuts making calls because they will drop. Very poor.

I had Nextel for about 4 years. Terrible connection service and way too high plan prices. I love U.S.Celluar and with a 30 day trial, even if you buy a phone, you can return everything and get your money back. The guy at the dealer said I can even send in the rebate, which is 30 to 60? dollars and keep it even if I do not continue the service with U.S. Celluar.
