Lombard is not a Nextel friendly area, however T-Mobile works flawlessly around here

I've always gotten great reception with Verizon all through this area. I'm pretty sure they've been bumping up their tower coverage. My roommate's T-Mobile phone only gets reception in one corner, and I can move all through the apartment.

12 days into AT&T service so far with good results. Hope all stays as current. Consistent 3-5 bars indoors, 4-5 bars outdoors. There's a couple towers in this area so I've notice some switch off. 3G data speed is faster and more consistent than Sprint's EVDO. AT&T is popular among the neighbors here and after inquiring recently on cell service, apparently Verizon still has their centralized void in downtown / north Lombard. This has been well known by them for at least 4 years. Why??? AT&T may not be the best for the city dwellers however it appears to be decent in this locale... so far.

Much better than Verizon. I can be almost in any part of the house and get decent reception.

No reception is perfect however in my travels it's done the job. My travels take me from the western burbs, north to NW burbs, east to north Chicago, and west to Rockford via 90 without failure of signal. Back in the day there was signal issue along 53 however that was fixed a year ago. I will admit the only time I've ever seen no service on the phone is in one corner (which appears to be a vortex for Verizon and Cingular as well) of a brick building in the NW burbs. With Nextel you do need to reboot your phone. I really like the razrs and bluetooth and I could save $22 a month going to Verizon however I've spoken with a few individuals that had some recent reception issues in my travels. I'm one of those cell geeks that does the hofo, modding, etc. so I'm not shy to ask a co-worker or friend about their cell service. BTW - motos are the easiest to customize.

I had Nextel for about 4 years. Terrible connection service and way too high plan prices. I love U.S.Celluar and with a 30 day trial, even if you buy a phone, you can return everything and get your money back. The guy at the dealer said I can even send in the rebate, which is 30 to 60? dollars and keep it even if I do not continue the service with U.S. Celluar.

Poor cell service indoors. I can usually make / receive calls from the upper floors of my home, but call service is spotty on the lower levels. Data is even worse despite AT&T's claims of "Best" service at my home.

Major signal bouncing however well over 100dBm indoors. Somewhat consistent -90dBm outdoors. Frequently dropping down to 1X (vs 1XEV). The Blackberry Curve is typically good with reception and in-depth testing with other carriers and handsets show this is a network issue. Sprint operates only on the PCS band (1900 MHz) so it's understood not having solid in-building penetration as other lower cellular bands (i.e. 800 / 850 MHz). Will look to VZW if losing "special" deal (will not pay advertised price). BTW - USCC operates on the PCS band as well in Chicago land therefore this as well pricing excludes them from the selection. AT&T's signal is overloaded worse than them all thus too unstable in Chicago land therefore they are excluded as well.

100% dropped calls from this area for over a month! When calls are received or made person on other line cannot hear what is said. Neighbors, myself or anyone who comes into this area with AT&T wireless cannot use their phones. No resolution from complaints that are filed daily. When asked if this was acceptable wireless service - was told (and I quote) - "It will have to be acceptable."
