I never have a dropped call in the city. Out in the country though... you lose signal. Other than that nothing to complain about at all. Perfect signal.

I've found after trying Verizon and Cingular that Alltel is really the only provider around here that covers the entire area. Even when you get away from the middle of town out into the surrounding areas the signal stays high. When trying to think of the local hangout / work locations, I have absolutely no trouble with Alltel shopping at Wal-Mart across town closer to Blockbuster and Pizza Hut on E Main. No problems near any of the schools around here either. I have family members that live all over the area too and it's a full signal at all their houses. Alltel really dominates the more rural areas away from the city though and nobody else is close as far as coverage goes. After reading the other reviews for this area I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. But to think that Alltel's signal affects Cingular which is a different company using completely different technology using completely different airwaves is just funny. Alltel and Verizon do normally roam on each other but Verizon phones won't use a good Alltel signal if it can pickup a Verizon signal from a distance because it holds onto it and won't switch over. I really wish they would actually build more towers here to give more competition but Cingular and Verizon are just a step behind here. Just look at the tower search on this site for Olney, the only tower in the middle of the city is owned by First Cellular which is now Alltel. But after trying them all, Alltel is the clear choice here. That's just my opinion after trying all the providers and comparison shopping. Overall, I do like Alltel as a company. Their plans give more minutes than other options and I love the My Circle feature. All in all, they're a good choice here because they work.

Reception with Alltel may be good but their business practices stink. We always had really good service from them until last 6 months and now it is a constant struggle. They actually left a voice mail saying they were gong to d / c our service because we had mistakenly shorted them 2 cents on the last bill. Would love to change service but there just is no one who can provide us the same reception and coverage area. It is like so many things in this area. They have you over a barrel.

Virgin Mobile (sprint) gets great reception all around Olney, Illinois. not so good when traveling. Major signal loss East of town and anywhere south of the radio station. On interstate 64, VM gets a signal but I wouldn't call it reliable. VM does get signal on Indiana 41. Great to have when in the city, not so much for rural folk.

Good coverage for Sprint in Olney and West all the way to Noble. I've talked all the way to the old rest area on 130 north before. not so good at the east fork lake or near the old shell truckstop on 50 east.

Reception is very good but operates in analog mode. Up until about a month ago my phone operated in the digital mode then all of a sudden switched to analog.
