I cannot get more than 2 bars maximum, typically it's only 1 bar. Initially I thought it was my old Razr phone but there is no better reception with a brand new Samsung. Very poor customer service.I am planning to move to a different provider to see if its any better.

Update to Aug 4 post: I've been in contact with US cellular and learned the HTC Desire has a known antenna defect so they are sending out a replacement phone. I was also told that one of the towers we get the signal from is struggling due to the recent storms and is currently powered by a generator. Another nearby tower must also be having issues as we appear to not be catching signals from it either. Doing *228 did help with texting performance on my Pantech for a few days, but tonight I've gotten many texts that failed to go thru.

terrible reception all over I drop about 10 calls a day

U.S. Cellular reception has been progressively getting worse in the past couple months. I strongly regret renewing our contract 8 months ago. The worst call and text reception is on my son's HTC Desire android. Many, many missed and dropped calls inside and outside the house. Reception on my CDM8635 (very inexpensive and basic model) is alittle better for calls, but at least 25% of my texts fail and require resending. I had been getting 2 signal bars on this phone, but now it's down to 0 or 1.

Common AT&T, you brag your the best. Pony up now then. Why is no one in this small palatine area within a few block radius around birchwood park not able to use there cell phones to make or receive calls? I think there are other carriers with the same problems? Could you please let us know what your doing to investigate this issue so we dont all have to switch to Sprint?

Can someone post a reply here to say when they expect service be restored in the palatine area. Was this knocked out from the last storm?

Last week or 2 there has been little to no reception around this area by Fremd high school. Neighbor has At&T service and same problem. Everyone with cell phones is dead in the water. Hope no one needs them for an emergency otherwise there could be some costly lawsuites.

I can even make calls from the basement! Love it.

If and when a call gets through, it always gets dropped, even while talking to ATT customer service about bad coverage. Way too many dead zones.

Never dropped call - coverage everywhere I drive - even into Wisconsin. Love it!

I've been very happy with the service, even in the basement it works well for calls and data.

I estimate that about one in ten calls I make will not be dropped. AT&T really sucks out there. I can be holding the phone perfectly still and in less than a minute it will show full bars, then one bar, then 3 bars, then no network coverage, then full bars. It's not the phone because other people with the same network have the same problem in the same area

I need to stand by my driveway or window to get reception. I called AT&T to complain and they said there's nothing they can do about it. They didnt even want to try to test or adjust anything. They just said thats the way it is. Kind of irritating.

T-Mobile reception here is awful. I work from home and my employer provides me with a T-Mobile phone. Reception disappears for hours during the day, especially between 8-10 am, and 3:30-6 pm. T-Mobile claimed the problem was the phone, so purchased a new phone but there was no improvement. Voicemails can be delayed for hours, so I use a landline to check messages every hour. To make things worse, sometimes instead of going to voicemail, customers have heard the message "The number you are trying to reach is not in service". One customer joked that we must not be paying our phone bills. My personal phone is US Cellular, and reception on my phone is good at this location, except in the basement on my kids Razrs.

We've been with Cingular well before the AT&T merger. Never dropped a call in 4 years: in SE Wisconsin, Chicago or Palatine Schaumburg area. Have been dropping calls steadily over last year to the point we have to switch. Ive been with AT&T since the 70's on my landline / mobile and that's starting to lose reception too. Hope it's not where we are but why would both the cells and landline work until this last year or so? It's a shame, I really really liked the Cingular service... .I'm guessing the landline is just mechanical but don't know.

Sprint reception is rotten on West Palatine. Verizon works OK. I am a corporate cell phone buyer and have a choice on who I use. I will no longer recommend Sprint because of the complaints that I receive.

Dropped calls all the time. Can't call from inside the house - have to go outside. Have contacted customer service numerous times and they tell me I should have good reception. Ha!

Reception is outstanding - even indoors. It's great to be able to use my mobile phone without worry at home again!

Good signal strength, No dropped calls and No breaking of voice.
