Excellent reception in 773 area... In 708 and 630 service tends to decrease but is much better than any other provider that my friends have!

Verizon is even acceptible in my basement. They are a little more costly but, after all, you get what you pay for! Also their EVDO high-speed data service works well and is almost as fast as my DSL!

As a follow up to my note on June 22nd with AT&T Service. As part of my 30 day guarantee with AT&T I returned my V600 phone to Best Buy and cancelled my AT&T Service. I purchased the same phone using Cingular as a carrier. My reception with Cingular is now twice as good as AT&T was. I am averaging 4 bars out of my house now and NO dropped calls with Cingular. My significant other also had problems with her AT&T service and V600 phone. She had ZERO reception at York and Industrial Drive in Elmhurst with AT&T. We swapped phones, today, and she has my Cingular phone with full reception (5 bars) at this location. She will also be returning her phone to AT&T. Incidentally, in the process of cancelling my AT&T contract the customer service rep indicating that their service and reception was "not optimal" in Illinois. Hmmm... as I mentioned in my previous notes, so much for the commercials touting 5 bars of reception with AT&T.

after 2 years of no reception with Verizon, switched to US Cellular. Reception has improved to almost fair, but it is still unacceptable.

T-Mobile service is awful in the Chicago area, particularly their data service. A day wouldn't go by without two or three dropped calls. I made the mistake of switching from Verizon and I'm now going back over.

I bought what I throught was the best GSM Phone - due to international travel. Service from AT&T is mediocre at best. I can be sitting in the house (stationary) and one minute I will have five bars of reception, the next minute will have one to two bars of reception. Last Sunday night, I couldn't keep callers on the phone. It dropped at least five times before I gave up and used a land line. So much for those AT&T commercials on TV touting Five Bars of Reception. What a joke! Anyway, it's not the phone, as I get five bars of reception at Michigan and Wacker. In other areas it is ok. I am still under the 30 day warranty and may return the phone to go with Cingular or T-Mobile. However, I have this gut feeling they may not be much better due to the slow roll out of GSM service.

Most calls are dropped after a minute or two. Very inconsistent - goes from 4 bars to zero in seconds, even when I am not moving.

If you're in any building at Dominican using Verizon, you can forget it! Outside on campus, you may end up with 2 or 3 bars max.
