Even with an external antenna, my Razr will barely make calls out. I average 99-105 dbm even with the 24" external antenna attached. That pretty much means no bars. Once connected, if I move, the call will almost certainly drop. I've noticed good signals approaching Hardin County Hospital and on Highwater Rd. I've found that depending on my location, my calls either go out through the tower in Herod, off of Rt 34, or in Madisonville, KY. No surprise everything is dropped. The City of Rosiclare did at one point offer Verizon a location to place a transmitter free of charge. Verizon did not take the city up on that. Generally in Hardin County you can get out as you go further north... generally hitting off of the Herod tower. As you approach Cave In Rock, calls are possible, possibly from the Sturgis, KY tower. Make a 911 call from a cellphone and there's no telling who will answer... sometimes KY State Police, sometimes Saline County, sometimes ISP. Better know where you're at when you call, or the receiving end won't have a clue.

the only place in Rosiclare Illinois you can get reception is at the River you have to be sitting in the right spot to get it then. Once in a while you may get reception long enough to transfer your phone to another number to get your calls.
