Cingular reception is a joke. I'm located less than 2 miles from the tower and the reception is horrid. Wish I had signed up with somebody else and can't wait for the 2 year period to expire!

When I'm in my house and streets surrounding this I have either no signal or a very crappy connection. Don't get T-Mobile if you're in this area, if you actually want to use your phone that is.

The reception on my Nextel is usually good until I'm in my place of employment (the St. Charles Police Department) which is right downtown along the Fox River. Once inside the building, there are dead spots with calls dropped and discontinued service.

My Cingular service is horrific; often cannot make calls from inside house, and even on front lawn, frequently only have one or two bars. Family members have four different kinds of phones (3 Motorola, 1 Nokia) and call quality miserable on all four. Phones are not the problem because they often work very well in other areas. Cingular seems thoroughly uninterested in my complaints, perhaps because they are an SBC subsidiary, the worsy telecommunications company on this planet in terms of customer service.

At my work, which is a retail store (Meijer), cell signal is usually 4 to mostly 5 bars (full scale signals) in the parking lot. I get deep inside the store the signals drop to as low as 2 bars, but that is to be expected in a steel and brick building. I had been using Cingular Wireless as my provider before I went with T-Mobile and had a Motorola Startac 7000 series phone. This phone was using TDMA technology. When I got deep inside the store the cell signal would get awful (1, maybe 2 bars). I attribute that to the phone and its technology. Now that the phone I have has GSM technology and am with a different provider, my cell signals are much better.
